Opening Saturday 9 May 17h @joey_ramone_rotterdam 📍 By @omds.an , @mik0mputer , @tair.uria , @_junying_wu , @domas_van_wijk 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘴 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 "This exhibition did not begin with a theme; it began with a constellation. A constellation that led to a question that has never fully gone away: how do we come together? What brought us together did not naturally reside in the articulation of a conceptual ground, but in the attempts around it: sharing drinks, sharing food, returning, lingering. In those moments, time and space were at play, alongside the objects in the background, which, rather than remaining décor, began to behave more actively. A table, a tabletop grill, a crate of beer, a floor, a room. Gradually, they facilitated our being together more than the attempts related to words and ideas. We arrived at the notion that our common ground is not something to be revealed through language; it is something that sits in the structure itself, in the arrangement, in its technical aspects, and in the objects that facilitate our togetherness. In that sense, this exhibition is about what carries it, or what it carries. About what makes a situation possible before it fully declares itself. About all that is often overlooked as merely supporting, yet actually plays an active part in how something comes into being, how something interacts, how something converges, or does not. What comes together here does not fuse into a fixed whole. Rather, it takes shape through a series of attempts, approaches, and shifts. At times close to one another, at times passing alongside each other. What emerges, then, is not an answer to how one comes together, but a place in which that question remains present." 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗮 🎉 Opening 9 May 17h 📆 On view 'till 27 June 📍 JOEY RAMONE, Josephstraat 166 - 168, Rotterdam

What is the Degrowth Station and why I’m developing this project? Degrowth Station begins from the idea that change does not have to start with something big or centralised. It can emerge through small, grounded practices that people develop together. By creating a shared environment, the project invites people to try simple and accessible ways of relating to tools, resources, and one another differently. It values autonomy, solidarity, and shared decision-making, seeing collective change as something built gradually through everyday acts and mutual support. For example, for the first edition, I started with an activation of MP3 players as a way to de-Spotify our devices and bring old ones back to life. Subscription culture makes access feel easy, but it often depends on continuous payment, data extraction, hidden infrastructures, and the habit of never owning anything. The charming old MP3 player works differently. It may be slower, simpler, and imperfect, but it can still function for years. It reminds us that not everything needs to be replaced, upgraded, or streamed. Sometimes enough is already here. #degrowth #degrowthstation #permacomputing #lowtech #mp3

I managed to power a lucky cat using radio frequency energy that’s already all around us! I built a device based on Joe Tate ambient power module, that harvested these frequencies and converted them into electricity, in my case it was just enough to run the calculator for a minute :) The orange jumper wire acts as an antenna, and for grounding (blue jumper wire) I connected it to a heater — third floor improvisation. Check two previous reels for instruction! What else should I try to power?

April 7th until May 23rd: SOCIAL DISRUPTIONS At SIGN and in the Groningen public space. Michelle Rasmussen, Enzy Jhang, Rover Indigo Bertels, Anna Musikhina, Beatrice Guidi and Marouschka Brian. Six young artists have been invited to develop and implement interventions (“disruptions”) in an urban or rural part of Groningen, or another selected, meaningful location with a strong presence of public space. They will implement significant interventions that will encourage people to rethink their surroundings and whose social impact will be tangible. The work period at SIGN runs from April 7th to May 10th. SIGN will serve as a base and workspace, with activities expanding outward. In other words, SIGN is not a presentation space, but serves as a research, documentation, and production space. The interventions will take place between May 10th and 23rd at various locations and times in public spaces. Dates and locations TBA!

For this ambient radio frequency harvesting Joe Tate model I used: 2 ceramic capacitors 104 (100nF/1uF) 4 Shottky diodes 1N5818 2 electrolytic capacitors 470uF Any suggestions how to improve?

I managed to power a calculator using radio frequency energy that’s already all around us! I built a device based on Joe Tate ambient power module, that harvested these frequencies and converted them into electricity, in my case it was just enough to run the calculator for a minute :) The red wire acts as an antenna, and for grounding I connected it to a heater — third floor improvisation. So yes, even an off-grid system can work with what’s locally available. ⚡️

How can the rhythm of a heartbeat relate to a line of code? And what can a dandelion teach us about industrial pollution? We are thrilled to present two profound artistic research projects that explore these vital connections and are the basis of the online exhibition “Ploughing digital landscapes”. • In “Steps, C# and Fireflies,” Anna Musikhina (@omds.an ) uncovers rhythm as a universal language, weaving together the cadence of walking, the synchrony of fireflies, and the temporal fabric of game engines. • In “Overgrowth,” Jurel Bakker (@jurelbakker ) investigates the Dutch nitrogen crisis, using a more-than-human perspective to trace the entangled lives of cows, milking robots, and resilient plants that bear witness to ecological imbalance. Both projects invite us to slow down, pay attention, and reconsider our relationship with the world. Dive deeper into these fascinating explorations of time, technology, and ecology. Follow the link in our bio to read the full research on our website.
