A quick breakdown of how I made last week’s Reel.
My goal with this project was to explore how you can blend real footage with different tools in @higgsfield.ai while still staying in control of the creative process.
I honestly had a ton of fun with this experiment. It’s been great for saving time and replacing older methods for certain effects - whether that’s masking or filling in a frame like the paper scene.
Looking forward to experimenting more with this and seeing what else it can do.

Creativity can be complicated.
Some days it feels like you’re on top of the world. Other days, even the simplest idea takes hours to form.
Over the last few years, I’ve found that spending time in nature and pushing myself to learn something new are two of the best ways to refine my creativity.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with the tools in Higgsfield, and honestly, not only has it allowed me to revisit old ideas, but it’s also been a lot of fun.

If you want faster first three strides in games, you have to practice them during drills.
Too many players wait for the whistle and casually ease into the drill. The athletes who actually get faster are the ones who focus on those first few strides every single time it’s their turn. That intent builds the habit your body will rely on during games.
The gym builds the tools. The ice is where you apply them.

You have to be willing to be bad at something before you can ever get good at it.
In this clip, Ryley (@mindfullmuscle_ ) and I talk about how progress always starts with discomfort. When athletes avoid things they are not good at, they limit their development. The players who improve the most are the ones willing to struggle, learn, and keep showing up anyway.
Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable is part of the process.

One of the best things a young hockey player can do is play more than just hockey.
In this clip from the podcast, Curtis Lazar talks about growing up playing multiple sports, including soccer, and how that helped his overall development. Playing different sports builds coordination, athleticism, and skills that carry over to the ice.
When kids specialize too early, they often miss out on the movement skills that make better athletes long term. The goal is not just to become a hockey player, it is to become a great athlete.

Pruning season on the Naramata Bench.
This is the quiet work that shapes the growing season long before a single grape appears. Each cut determines how the vine will grow, how it balances its energy, and ultimately the quality of the fruit we harvest later in the year.
It’s slow, thoughtful work, one vine at a time but it’s where every great vintage begins.✂️🍇
Spring is just around the corner.

Time moves so fast. January feels like yesterday, but somehow it’s already almost a new season!
I never actually shared photos from this night. Looking back, I’m so proud of Nicole and I.
@elevateokanagan was a room full of builders, creatives, and visionaries. For community. For real connection. For art. For something new.
Grateful for everyone who was in this room and everyone who helped bring it to life💌
Curtis Lazar did not start with a perfect training plan.
When he first began training around 10 years old, it was not structured. He found an aerobics class, showed up, and simply did the work. He did not wait for the perfect setup. He found a way to improve.
Today we are far more educated about youth development and progression, but the principle is the same. If you want to separate yourself, you still have to do something that moves you forward. Passion plus smart progression is what creates long-term results.
Full episode drops soon.
