Huge thank you to the Historical Society of Greater Lansing for sharing this vintage postcard featuring “North Lansing Against The World.”
The postcard captures the neighborhood before its decline in the 1960s and the revitalization in the 1990s that helped shape the Old Town we know today.
A handwritten note on the back reads “Jun 30 ’44,” though the true date remains a bit of a mystery.
Either way, it’s a reminder of the history, resilience, & community that has always existed here.

What started as an unexpected opportunity turned into a dream come true for owner Anne. After years working as a project manager in the corporate world, she decided it was time to stop managing everyone else’s projects and start building something of her own. When the opportunity came to take over Glow from longtime friend and former owner Aura, she jumped in and Old Town is brighter because of it. 💛
Glow is more than just a shop. It’s a colorful experience designed for wandering, discovering, and finding something you didn’t know you needed. From lush houseplants and candles to unique gifts, kitchen goods, chocolates, and more, every corner of the store is thoughtfully organized by color so guests can “walk the rainbow.” 🌈
One thing you definitely shouldn’t miss? Their famous plant section, monthly Plant Bingo nights, and yes… the adorable Smeg fridge filled with Wisconsin cheese. 🧀🪴
