Thank you to @guyton_guitars for asking me to work on this project with him. Andy was asked to get the original Maiden guitars up and running for this world tour, and this pickup wasn’t playing ball… so guess who got to repair it!?
I can’t tell you how exciting/terrifying it was to have the pickup of a hero, and a pickup waiting to be played in front of their crowds was! But now that they’ve done their first show Andy & I can talk about it!

It’s been an interesting week making some custom builds. These are custom P90 sized humbuckers, one with a more metal/aggressive orientated sound, the other is a Greeny inspired build with lower output, and reversed neck magnet.
Now for the final checks before shipping!

So, I had some custom pickups made by the legend that is @oldbonespickups and me oh my do they sound fantastic. I really cannot thank Sean enough for these.
After being away on tour, I had a message from Sean that they are being posted, so being the eager beaver that I am, I decided to get them into my @epiphoneuk Les Paul Custom as soon as I got back from tour. Literally getting home and within an hour, I was getting it started ready for their grand reveal at our Bristol show at the one and only @thecroftbristol , a venue where as a Bristolian, I played my first gig at when I was a wee lad. Having started Saturday when I came back from Milton Keynes, I finished installing and setting up roughly and hour before leaving and once plugged the rest is at the end of the video.
These pickups sound soooo good and Sean nailed every mm of them and done exactly what I asked for with them as I wanted something with a good bit of bite but also as dynamic as possible with a shout to the legend that is Tony Iommi and his Jaydee pickups. And again, cannot thank him enough.
If you’d like some fancy bloody pickups then I’d get on over to the man and put your request in. He will be getting another request from me soon that’s for sure…
Part of today was spent upgrading a guitar for my son. This is a FGN super-strat… I don’t recall the model, but it’s had new pickups installed, and a new wiring loom, where we ditched the 3 way switch for a 5 way super-switch, and swapped the tone pot for a kill switch. It was then treated to a set up.
Now it’s definitely ready for some drop tuned mayhem!

One of today’s projects is to do a rewind on these Fender Custom Shop pickups, and make a matched middle pickup. The owners plan is to use my pickup and one of the rewinds to make a HSS set, with one of my Modern PAFs, and either keep or sell the other rewound fender pup.

One of today’s sets was this noiseless Classic P90 in a humbucker format, and a Custom Carouser made to a Modern PAF spec. I just need to do the final checks on these and the others, then I can get them sent out and off to their new owners!
