>> OUT SOON << 'AUFSTURZ' by JOHANNES BAUER, MICHAEL GRIENER, OLAF RUPP [scatterArchive 2026] Sometimes it is exciting to listen to old recordings again, rummage through boxes of concert recordings from 20 years ago and hear how music that did not make it to a record label back then might sound to today’s ears. Michael Griener did just that and found a cdR used as a demo to send to concert organisers. It is a live stereo recording from the Aufsturz Club in Berlin's Oranienburger Straße, where today only clean stylistics for tourists are offered. The music of the trio, with the master trombonist Johannes Bauer, who died in 2016, Olaf Rupp on electric guitar and Michael Griener on drums, sounds so wild and uncompromising that one wonders why the three of them did not get more concert gigs with such a demo back then. It is a bit more understandable that it was not released as a record at the time, because the simple stereo recording had technical flaws that could only be remedied with modern technology.
