Winning Best Short Film at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) @afriff is a moment of deep honor and gratitude for me. I am truly humbled by this recognition, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to AFRIFF for creating such a powerful platform that celebrates authentic African stories and the filmmakers behind them. This story is deeply personal to me since my days at Equatorial Guinea 🇬🇶 been my Maternal home . It sheds light on the issue of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) an experience I have personally seen people lived through. Creatingthisfilm was both a healing process and a mission to give voice to so many women and girls who have endured similar pain in silence. I wanted to turn my personal experience on the story into something that could spark awareness, empathy, and change. Seeing it resonate and be honored on such a stage means more than words can express. To my incredible cast and crew, this achievement belongs to every single one of you. Your dedication, passion, and belief in this story gave it the strength it needed to reach hearts. I am especially grateful to my cinematographer @okwongfadamana , whose artistry and vision brought each frame to life so beautifully transforming raw emotion into powerful imagery that carried the soul of this story. To our supporters, audiences, and everyone who believed in this project thank you. Your encouragement and love remind me that stories told from truth and courage will always find their way into the world. This is not the end it is just the beginning. We will continue to tell stories that matter, stories that heal, and stories that reflect the strength and resilience of our people. African cinema is rising, and I’m proud to be part of this new wave of storytellers shaping its future.
