Today, we’re excited to formalize a longtime partnership as we announce the acquisition of OJB Landscape Architecture. The result: a union of Populous’ expertise in creating iconic, people-centric destinations with @OJBLA ’s award-winning portfolio of transformative landscape design and public realm work.
Working together on @Baylor ’s McLane Stadium showed us not only the depth of OJB’s collective knowledge, but also their unwavering commitment to design as a way to connect. That focus on design as a connector mirrors our own focus, designing the places where people love to be together, and we’re excited about the possibilities that await.

Utah City’s Lake Promenade is officially open. Angular glulam trellises, an elevated walkway, and steel-paneled restrooms line the corridor connecting the commuter rail to the lakefront. Got out with the whole team to walk it and were delighted to see the community enjoy it.

Elevated living, redefined in Boston.
At South Station Tower, the 11th-floor Sky Park by @ojbla Landscape Architecture transforms nearly an acre of space into a living, breathing landscape in the sky—designed not just as an amenity, but as an experience.
120 feet above the city, this verdant oasis offers residents a rare intersection of nature and urban life: morning yoga under open sky, midday resets surrounded by greenery, and evening strolls woven through lush lawns and tree canopies. It’s a place where wellness isn’t scheduled—it’s embedded.
Beyond the landscape itself, the Sky Park becomes a platform for connection. Seasonal programming, from mindfulness sessions to live music and farmers markets, activates the space—bringing moments of discovery and community into everyday life.
Paired with the elevated living experience of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Boston, South Station Tower, this project sets a new benchmark for how cities can serve their residents: by carving out meaningful, restorative space within the skyline.
A park in the sky. A new rhythm for city living.

OJB Landscape Architecture Advances Conceptual Landscape Plans for
Washington Commanders Stadium.
A “stadium in a park” vision takes shape: rooted in the region’s riverfront ecology and designed to support community health, daily recreation, and year-round gathering.
OJB Landscape Architecture has developed a landscape vision for the new Washington Commanders stadium and surrounding district, establishing an immersive, resilient public realm that celebrates the natural beauty of the Washington, D.C., area. Conceived as a true “stadium in a park,” the plan pairs HKS’s design for the Commanders’ new home with OJB’s sweeping network of lawns, groves, promenades, and plazas that invite movement, play, and connection on game days and ordinary days alike.
The landscape is organized as a robust, adaptable sequence of outdoor rooms – cool and shaded in summer, bright and walkable in winter, and animated by the colors of spring and fall. These spaces expand to welcome the energy of stadium events and contract to match the rhythms of everyday neighborhood life, offering paths for a lunchtime loop, places to meet friends, and calm pockets for rest and reflection. Native and climate-resilient plantings strengthen habitat, manage stormwater, and create comfort at the ground plane. Blurring the boundary between the stadium and the city, the landscape is walkable and resilient.
“We’re designing a landscape around the stadium that feels inseparable from Washington’s park and riverfront experience,” said Jim Burnett, FASLA, founder of OJB Landscape Architecture. “The goal is a civic place that can hold the excitement of game day but also supports community health and well-being every day: spaces to walk, gather, play, recharge, and celebrate. It will offer something for everyone, in every season.”

Brought to life by OJB Landscape Architecture, these spaces are designed to spark imagination, encourage movement, and create moments of connection across all ages. From climbable structures to immersive environments, every detail is rooted in the idea that play is essential infrastructure.
It’s work like this that reminds us—creating places for fun is serious design.

Warner Bros. Second Century Studio Campus | OJB Landscape Architecture - Second Century is situated within an 11-acre site in Burbank, California. This legacy Hollywood studio centre introduces a striking new presence on the skyline between the iconic Hollywood Hills and San Gabriel Mountains. Lush landscape on the ground plane and in building terraces creates a three-dimensional composition that mediates the area between the hillside and the roadway.

WE PLAYED 🎉🤸♀️
Our Berliner Play Area is now open.
We opened the gates to our award-winning new play area, the first ever of its kind in the United States.
We had an awesome turnout of families from all around the valley with kids that filled all the swings, slides and play features that make this play area so unique. The large balloon is not only open during the day, but it also lights up at night.
Complimenting the fun, there was music from a live DJ, hand drawn photo booths, balloon animals, face painting and local food vendors. The fun was never ending.
Come on down and play. All ages are welcome!

A thoughtful brand evolution rooted in landscape and architecture.
In partnership with OJB, @proportiondesign worked closely with founder James Burnett, partners, and team members across their six offices to develop a cohesive brand strategy and identity system designed to carry the firm forward for years to come.
From public parks to campuses and workplaces, OJB’s work continually connects people with the simple beauty of nature—balancing access with sustainability. That harmony is reflected in the firm’s refined identity.
At the center of the system is the OJB monogram. Built from an underlying grid, the custom typography is a crafted mark combining clean lines with subtle curves. The mark is rooted in clarity and comprehension, evoking the craft and character of the design practice.
This visual framework now extends across the firm’s communications, including the design of OJB’s latest monograph published by Phaidon, Envisioning Landscapes, where the color and type identity system provides structure and restraint, allowing the landscapes themselves to take focus. OJB’s latest monograph is now available for purchase. Link in bio.
