52nd donation today. Why do I do it? Well partly I started giving blood when my nan needed a transfusion years ago and felt that I should be doing my bit. (She then felt like she’d got it as she said it had felt spicy and Mediterranean!)
But also I’m RO which is needed for sickle cell treatment.

If you’ve never given blood before I can totally say it’s great to know you are helping someone you’ll never meet, that the team there are constantly wonderful (shout out to Norfolk House including @georgina.byrne.63 ) and you also GET FREE BISCUITS!

This was taken back on the very first show when my beard wasn’t grey and I thought it gave me gravitas and @itsjordanhemingway@danmarkham were my original producers.
Today signals 8 years of the midnight massive broadcasting from the Salford Riviera. By far the Longest & best thing I’ve ever done. It’s a time that has included births and deaths and house moves and pandemics and more.
Won’t lie, Nights are tough and I’ve aged in dog years BUT the laughs and the camaraderie and the general joy of being on Radio 2 and now working with @sophietibbles & @broadbeano has totally made it worth it.
Here’s to how ever many more I can manage!
