The Radio mix distills these characteristics into a pop songcraft, whereas Dub completely omits the sax in favor of delayed drum dynamics and vocals shrouded in a hallucinatory haze. Difficile individuare il momento preciso in cui ho iniziato a lavorare a questo nuovo disco. Da quando frequento l’Oister Studio di Jolly Mare abbiamo registrato tanti spunti, mettendoli da parte per il futuro e lasciando che si sedimentassero nel tempo, passando dalle pareti verde scuro dello studio a quelle rosa del bistrò di quartiere, dove ci fermavamo in pausa pranzo a mangiare uova sode alla maionese e polpette di cavallo. Con il passare dei mesi le idee sono aumentate creando evidentemente un immaginario sonoro. “Beh qui siamo a Missori” ha esclamato Fabrizio un giorno ascoltando quello che sarebbe diventato il brano di apertura del disco. #missori

Vi presento MISSORI, il nuovo album di Alberto Bazzoli che ho avuto il piacere di produrre, uscito l’8 novembre per Icaro Musica. È il racconto sonoro di una Milano scomparsa che ha come protagonista un impiegato che vive e lavora in centro, in zona Missori appunto, in un tempo in cui la città aveva un aspetto molto diverso da quello attuale. L’atmosfera è elegante, di classe, ma a tratti anche verace e ruspante, per sonorizzare un’esistenza non apatica eppure impregnata del grigio della città. Ho conosciuto Alberto poco dopo essere tornato a vivere qui a Milano ed ho amato da subito la sua sincerità artistica. La sua musica nasce da un desiderio di espressione, senza la necessità di colpire o fare numeri, credo che di questi tempi sia una eccezione. Unendo i gusti in comune mi sono appassionato nel dare forma alla sue composizioni, in un periodo in cui ho voglia di dedicarmi non solo alle mie produzioni ma anche alla collaborazione con artisti che stimo. A questo proposito il disco è stato registrato, missato, e masterizzato all’Oister Studio dal mio assistente Fabrizio Martina che saluto. Con noi hanno lavorato Niccolò Fornabaio (batteria) e Lorenzo Fornabaio (chitarre) che con il loro tocco hanno completato il quadro sonoro, Dave Masotti che con le foto all’interno della copertina ha interpretato poeticamente ogni brano, Sir Riccardo Corda che ha dato al disco una veste grafica ed una copertina stupenda. Drums of Oister First sight looking like obsolete cash counters or odd office calculators, drum machines and rhythm boxes play a center role in the studio, offering inspiration and good starting points for upcoming music, while reinforcing productions along the way. I’ve decided to take some time for documenting some of them under daily use. 1_Roland 606, Syncussion: classic 606 punch and attitude, here it triggers a syncussion that goes through a space echo for instant cosmic feel. 2_Roland cr78 with Moog delay: so simple yet so magic, moogerfooger does the rest adding bounce and grain. 3_Ult Sound and Space Echo: I came by chance into this rare module and it shaped so much my way of producing at that time that I literally recorded my second album around it. 4_Sequential Drumtraks, Moog Cluster Flux and Boss Mixer: a funky box that works very well once driven and modulated. Moog modulation added for maximum drama. 5_Boss dr.Rhythm: don’t be fooled by its appearance, this box is capable of punch and attitude and it’s also programmable. 6_Alesis Hr16B: Cheap alternative to more expensive studio tools, here equipped with custom eproms. No need for further dirt and compression.
