Some tracks don’t need fixing. They just need a bit more room.
South African composer and keyboard wizard Don Laka has been quietly sitting in DJ bags for years, especially with people who like their synth music warm, slightly mysterious, and impossible to date properly. Somewhere between jazz funk, township pulse and studio electronics, but really just its own thing.
Stages was an obvious candidate for extension. Prins Thomas what he does best here: opens the arrangement, lets the synth lines breathe, stretches the groove until it starts floating a little higher off the ground. Nothing forced, nothing added for the sake of it. Just more of a very good thing.
I Wanna Be Myself gets a gentle nudge from Gerd Janson. The idea was simple: keep the personality, and give DJs a version that lands naturally in a modern set without losing the original charm. It’s still the same track, just standing a bit straighter.
And because the source matters, the original version of “Stages” is here as well. Always good to remember where the magic started.
Three versions, no drama. Just strong music that already knew what it was doing.
Prins Thomas’ edit of Stages is out today and the vinyl/full release out on June 5th.

John Noseda checks back in on Running Back with My Desire. A track that clearly remembers the good parts of the ’80s: shiny synths, dramatic feelings and basslines that refuse to sit still. Luca Lorenzo handles vocal duties with just the right amount of heart-on-sleeve intensity, while the groove keeps everything firmly in motion. Think Italo romance, a bit of neon glow and enough drive to carry things well past sensible closing times. In short: emotional dance music for people who claim they’re leaving early but somehow never do.
Out today on all platforms - link in bio.
Out today, Tornado Wallace’s Left At Sunset EP, here he taps into those fragile, glowing moments after a long night in the club, when the lights come up just enough, the bass softens, and the first hint of morning slips through the windows. Time feels suspended. The lead track Asahi Ga Yondeiru (“the morning sun is calling”) captures that feeling perfectly. Built around Courtney Bailey’s gentle vocal, it drifts somewhere between late-night house and early-morning reflection. It is not about the peak. It is about what comes after it. That quiet euphoria when you realize the night gave you something you will carry back into the real world. The rest of the EP stays in that same emotional zone: warm, slightly melancholic, but full of light.
These are tracks for the very last dance, when the floor is half-empty, hearts are wide open, and every sound feels a little more meaningful.
Not an ending, really. Just the beginning of whatever comes next.
Available everywhere today, grab a copy of the vinyl on our Bandcamp.
