Art for Franklinton is back tonight 😜 Last year I had so much fun at this event and was amazed by all the support Columbus gives to its artists 👏🏼. Wish I could be there, but know soooo many others will be. Go out tonight and have some fun, meet some local Columbus artists, and bid on some artwork!

New thank you cards have arrived in the studio! I love packaging up paintings and sending them off to their new homes. In each package I always make a little note to the buyer and these thank you cards, or should I say “merci” cards, are perfect for those messages! Maybe I should add these to the webshop…. 🥰

New collection thoughts 🩷 This collection has been growing alongside a lot of change in my life, and I’ve found myself wanting to share some of the pieces behind it as it unfolds. The artwork, the inspiration, maybe even the music too. Here’s one thought for this piece…. In the movie Runaway Bride, there’s a scene about eggs that always stayed with me. Each man in Maggie Carpenter’s life knew exactly how she liked them. Scrambled with dill. Egg whites only. Poached. Every answer different depending on who she was with. But the eggs were never really about breakfast. They were about identity. About how easy it is to shape yourself around other people without even noticing. I’ve been thinking about that a lot while working on this new collection. For me, it’s not eggs it’s with music. Music has followed me through every version of myself — piano lessons with my mom, dance team, long drives to school, heartbreak, healing, all of it. And when I look back, I can almost track different chapters of my life through the music I listened to at the time. Country. Heavy metal. Oddly, Classical 🥴. Genres that somehow became “mine” while I was around certain people. Until one person changed that. With him, music became the one place I didn’t perform. No trying to impress. No curating. No becoming. Just genuine. Songs I loved. Artists that actually felt like me. And I think that realization — the difference between sharing yourself and losing yourself — has quietly become part of this collection. More soon 🩷

Ever wonder what the first step is when I create a collection? MOOD BOARDS. I start every individual painting and collection with gathering all my thoughts into mood boards where I use images and notes to show my ideas on color, composition, emotion, sizes, etc… it’s the foundation of each project and something I reference throughout the creative process. This new collection is going to focus on color in a unique way to a style I have wanted to play with. I have lots of inspiration from Provence, and it also ties directly into emotions of mine from this past year living in France. Now it’s time to order materials & get the studio playlist ready!!! 👏🏼🎶

Last year at this time I started my journey in France at @lamaisondebeaumont 🇫🇷 During that time I had some of the best experiences of my life in and out of the studio. But the studio is where I spent hours listening to music (this song being one of my favs) and creating whatever I felt was right. I ended up creating over 10 large paintings in just two weeks! By far the most art I’ve ever created in that amount of time 😅. This year I want to celebrate the anniversary of my arrival in France by creating a new collection. I’ll be spending lots of hours in the studio and drowning myself in good music— two of my favorite things! Follow along as I create this new collection and pay homage to this journey my life has taken 🫶🏼
