2026 was truly the collaboration of the year with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. From the Doernbecher Leprechaun Lap bringing hundreds of kids out to run, to an awesome patient-designed medal, and the incredible hospital team showing up in full force in the Teams Village, this partnership made a huge impact on our community.A huge thank you to all the runners who donated throughout the year and filled the expo toy bins with generosity. Between participant donations and 50% of proceeds from the Doernbecher Leprechaun Lap, together we raised $10,352.00 for the Child Life Therapy Program. Every dollar and toy donated will help bring comfort, support, and joy to children and families receiving care. If you haven't heard of the Child Life Therapy Program offered at Doernbecher, we encourage everyone to check out the work they are doing.Thank you for being part of something so meaningful. We’re excited to continue growing this partnership in 2027 and donations are already open in the registration flow! @ohsudoernbecher

We love when the @timbersfc stop by! @emillller , @kmillz_00 and @ari_lassiter15 turned an ordinary day at OHSU Doernbecher into something unforgettable — sharing laughs, playing games and even kicking around a little soccer with our patients. ⚽️ 🥅 Our kids loved getting up close with the players they cheer for on the field. These visits remind us how powerful community can be, and we’re incredibly thankful for the time, heart and positivity the Timbers share with our kids. We appreciate you! 💚

This month, we had the privilege of joining partners and hospital leaders from around the country at the annual @childrensmiraclenetwork Elevate Conference — and the highlight came when our very own Dr. Dana Braner was selected from leaders at 170 CMN hospitals to receive the 2026 CMN US Impact Award, honoring his unwavering dedication to pediatric healthcare. 🏆 Seeing his leadership celebrated on a national stage was a proud moment for all of us. The celebration didn’t stop there... CMN President and CEO Aimee Daily (@behindtheballoon ) took the stage wearing Khovny’s Doernbecher Freestyle 21 sneakers as she introduced Dr. Braner’s award, sharing Khovny’s NICU journey, the #DBFreestyle program in partnership with @nike , and the powerful impact it continues to have on kids and families. 👟⚕️ Dr. Braner’s influence on children’s health is felt every single day at Doernbecher, and this recognition reflects the heart he brings to his work. He also presented during a conference session on philanthropic investment in pediatric care — earning a standing ovation. 👏 And of course, @dogsofdoernbecher Darby was right there to cheer him on. Moments like these — when Doernbecher’s stories, people, and programs are recognized nationally — speak to the extraordinary community that makes this hospital so special. 💞

This sweet little moment was captured by mom @chey_anderson17 of Everest’s first time meeting @dogsofdoernbecher Darby. 🦮💕 Hospital Facility Dogs bring a lot of joy to families and comfort in stressful situations. We’re happy to have our furry friends here for them. “We couldn’t wait for them to meet, it was so special,” mom said. Everest and her family have had a long journey in our NICU & PICU, but staff have continually made the stay one to remember. Whether it’s playing dress up, singing songs, a motorized car (!! 🚗 💨) or cute decorations for baby Ev, we hope the next adventure of bringing her home is the best yet! 🏡❤️

IN A CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL VERY, VERY NEARBY… an out‑of‑this‑world birthday adventure took place! 🚀✨ Our hero Malcom just celebrated his 16th birthday — and it was nothing short of cosmic. 🌟 As Malcom is a huge Star Wars fan, everyone joined in to make the Force strong with this birthday celebration…even Darby-Wan Kenobi. Malcom brought the bravery, the smiles, and the Jedi‑level excitement — and the whole hospital crew was honored to be part of his mission. A legendary birthday for a legendary kid. 🌌✨

Meet Miss Rosamina! 🎀   This little but mighty one was born two months early and spent her first days in our NICU at OHSU Doernbecher. Now she’s 10 months old (12 months if you count her time before birth), and she’s been working hard with our Neonatal Transition Clinic team — her physical therapist, dietitian, and speech therapist — to grow strong and keep hitting new milestones.   Because of her lung challenges, trach, and feeding tube, Rosamina needs a little extra support as she learns to eat safely. But that doesn’t slow her down. Here she is practicing with her Passy Muir Valve and having the best time getting messy with purées.   She’s determined and she’s joyful. We can’t wait to cheer her on as she takes her next big steps in this amazing journey and she learns to find her roar. 🦁💪💞

Starting kindergarten is a big milestone — and it goes much smoother when families get support early. Kindergarten readiness isn’t just ABCs; it’s social‑emotional skills, motor skills, communication, and the confidence to navigate a classroom. 🪁 OHSU Doernbecher’s Kinder Coaching Program helps families build these skills starting at ages 3–5, right in their pediatric clinic and covered by Medicaid. Coaches meet with families to talk about development, share simple ways to learn at home, and connect them to resources like preschool, library programs, and specialty care. The impact speaks for itself: last year, 100% of participating families said coaching helped them feel more prepared for kindergarten. Parents felt more confident, more supported, and more ready for this big transition. Every child deserves a strong start — and every family deserves the tools to make it happen. 💛 Learn more, story linked in profile.

Child Life Specialists make patients laugh, comfort them when they're upset and create a safe space for families during a hospital stay. By bringing comfort and warmth, they help make the hospital feel a little more like home. They're some of the most beloved members of our hospital team (with @dogsofdoernbecher close behind 🦮💞). During #ChildLifeSpecialistMonth, we're so grateful for everything they do, every single day!
