We sat down with @ohnopiero , a Fitzroy-based artist caught between Brunswick Street chaos and the Ionian Sea, to talk about Calabrian light, childhood cars, and the objects that become art.

@milduraartscentre “PORTRAITS: PAST TO PRESENT.”
My self-portrait alongside works by other incredible Mildura artists is now on show. I painted it not long after finishing my Master of Fine Art, right at the moment I realised I’d be in HECS debt and wondered how I’d ever pay it off.
The exhibition runs in tandem with “WOMEN IN PORTRAITURE,” featuring works from @ngvmelbourne .
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that the kid who grew up flipping through art books, reading about Picasso (who I always thought looked like my Nonno) would one day have work sitting in the same presence as him and Dora Maar and Françoise Gilot. I’m still pinching myself.
Onwards and forwards — the best time is now. ❤️🍾

For the past few years I’ve been going to Turn 6 at Albert Park with a ladder just to catch a glimpse of the F1. Im a last minute man and never manage to buy tickets. First time I did it was back in 2002 had to climb a tree.
I wasn’t sure if I was going to release this T-Shirt. This idea has been sitting with me for a while, and turning it into something wearable felt right. So for the next two weeks you can grab your own.

AGIP aka “Cane Piccante” (Spicy Dog) 🔥🐕
The name was coined by my sister Renata on holiday in Italy. It’s a logo for a service station / Italian energy company. I always remember it on the scarlet red Ferrari of Gehard Burger and Alan Prost whilst watching the F1 late at night laying on the ground with head up on a pillow way to near the tv.
