Studio visits with @coppere.ford feel like family reunions, where you gain rare access to the coveted family photo albums and VHS tapes with the animated energies of ancestors known and unknown. Time capsules and points of transportation echo through downloads and familiar frequencies. It’s a space where you learn about yourself through others. Ford selflessly shares pieces of his artistic process while always highlighting the creative energies that are his roots and orbits: his family. He spoke about being happy to live in “a house full of artists and creativity” and how it has became his catalytic haven. “Oblivious Utopias” – Debut Solo Exhibition by Coppere Ford We proudly announce “Oblivious Utopias”, the debut solo exhibition of Richmond-native multidisciplinary artist Coppere Ford, opening on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Curated by Rā-Twoine Fields and Nigel Richardson, the exhibition marks a significant milestone in Coppere’s evolving studio practice and will run through October 4, 2025. Blending collage, installation, and sound activation, “Oblivious Utopias” highlights Coppere’s unique approach to Akashic memory recovery and cultural archiving within an Afrofuturistic and postmodern framework. His practice is rooted in lived experience, research, and cultural knowledge, weaving a thread between visual, material and thematic experimentation. Throughout his emerging career, Coppere has exhibited in group shows at Southside Contemporary and Art Basel Miami, with upcoming presentations planned for Affordable Art Fair NYC 2025 [Sept. 17-21]. This new chapter includes his debut solo exhibition, presenting a collection of work that reflects his ongoing evolution as an artist and cultural archivist. Studio visits with Coppere Ford always feel like visits to your cool cousin’s house. The one with the dope collection of things you can browse and fire snacks. A mini vacation to another world.
