Das hier gezeigte Paddel ist ein Fragment aus „Nicht Nichtsein, Nicht sein“ von Bongjun Oh. In der vollständigen Installation hängt ein Sarg von der Decke, darunter ein Segel, das den Boden fast berührt. Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit ist die persönliche Erfahrung des Künstlers von Verlust und die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Tod. Das Werk ergründet, was bleibt, wenn ein Körper vergeht, wo Leere entsteht und womit sie sich füllt. Oh beschreibt den Tod als einen Prozess von Entleeren und Füllen zugleich, vergleichbar mit Wasser in einem Gefäß.
An der Wand tritt Bongjun Ohs Arbeit in einen Dialog mit dem Werkkomplex „PHASO“ von Sarah Oh-Mock
@oh_mock , das die spekulative Betrachtung einer Welt nach dem Verschwinden der Menschheit thematisiert. In der Überlagerung beider Arbeiten und der Sammelstücke des Künstlerpaars, werden Dinge und Bilder zu Trägern von Bedeutungen, die jenseits klarer Grenzen zwischen Sein und Nichtsein wirken.

The paddle shown here is a fragment from “Nicht Nichtsein, Nicht sein” by Bongjun Oh. In the complete installation, a coffin hangs from the ceiling, beneath which is a sail that almost touches the floor. The starting point for the work is the artist’s personal experience of loss and his confrontation with death. The work explores what remains when a body perishes, where emptiness arises, and what fills it. Oh describes death as a process of emptying and filling at the same time, comparable to water in a vessel.
On the wall, Bongjun Oh’s work enters into a dialogue with the work complex “PHASO” by Sarah Oh-Mock
@oh_mock , which deals with the speculative consideration of a world after the disappearance of humanity. In the superimposition of both works and the collection pieces of the artist couple, things and images become carriers of meanings that transcend clear boundaries between being and non-being.

![„PHASO“ (Post-Human Archaeological Studies Organisation), künstlerisches Langzeitprojekt von Sarah Oh-Mock @oh_mock ON VIEW @galerie_im_saalbau[DE]Mit „PHASO“ entwirft Sarah Oh-Mock seit 2014 eine fiktive archäologische Untersuchung des Anthropozäns nach dem Verschwinden der Menschheit.Unter dem Eindruck der Corona-Pandemie erhielt das Projekt eine neue Dringlichkeit: Reiseverbote, Trennung von Familie und das paradoxe Öffnen des BER im Lockdown führten zur Werkreihe Postaerozän. In it, Oh-Mock imagines the future extinction of airplanes and considers their possible evolution into semi-organic beings.The work asks what traces our civilization will leave behind when mobility, belief in progress, and global connectivity collapse. In drei Kapiteln verschmelzen reale und digitale Räume zu einer Traumlandschaft, die von kollektiven Sehnsüchten und Ängsten erzählt. Während das Kapitel „Lotus Birth“ das Gefühl der Isolation in den eigenen vier Wänden widerspiegelt, erkundet „#FOMO is dead“ die paradoxe Wendung von der Sehnsucht nach Ruhe in hektischen Zeiten hin zur überwältigendenErfahrung des Stillstands während des Lockdowns. Eine große Papierbahn in Form eines Möbiusbandes zeigt über 100 Übersetzungen, die sich durch Sprachen und Kulturen verschieben. Die Arbeit beleuchtet, wie Sprache, durch kontinuierliche Transformation, niemals eine feste, abgeschlossene Bedeutung erreicht.
