Welcome back to Top picks of the month: April edition !! Our show of the month was Among the Stars by Cassian Manderson @the03manderson which was a part of @theofest2026 . It was a brilliant show placed in rural Canada during the space race, and it involved a little moose puppet AND a little Cassian puppet (so you know it was good). It was creative, thought provoking, and heartwarming. And we can’t wait to see what Cassian does next. Our top performer of the month is Liv Buchanan @olivia.buchanan , who performed in her original piece The Writers Room at @theofest2026 . It was not only a beautiful musical piece, it was heart felt and gut wrenching. Liv has a way of commanding a stage like no other, she is poised and authentic, and just generally a top talent of our generation. Everybody should watch out for Liv because every time shes on stage she makes an astounding impact. Our top script of the month is Knife by Eric Trudell @rickytroodle which was presented at The Theatre Centre this month. It was a character driven, unique piece about knife salesman, it made us laugh and gasp and cry and we cannot wait to see where this script and playwright go next. Our top design of the month was at Moulin Rouge! In Toronto, at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre. Derek McLane, Catherine Zuber, Justin Townsend, Peter Hylenski, David Brian Brown, and Sarah Cimino collectively made an awe-striking production design. Beautiful and intricate costumes, hair, and makeup. The set, lighting, and sound took our breath away and moved the story along wonderfully. Overall, it was captivating and incredible to watch. We hope you caught some of these pieces and if you didn’t, make sure to look out for these people in the future! And check back in for our May picks of the month :)

Of The Sea Productions March top picks! 1. Our show of the month is The Bells: A Brontë Musical written by Cassie Hyman & Emi Gusdal. We had the pleasure of attending this workshop and it exceeded all expectations. The music was so carefully and beautifully written and the cast was breathtaking. This musical is going places and we are counting down the days until we can see it or hear it again. 2. Our top actor of the month is Diana Del Rosario, who played Charlotte Brontë in The Bells. Not only does she have a powerhouse voice, she is a well rounded and beautiful performer. She embodied the character to the highest degree and every choice she made within her singing, her acting, and her movement were so purposeful. This is our first time seeing Diana perform and we certainly hope it is not our last. 3. Our top youth actors of the month are Edith Senko and Payton Hines, who both performed in Ride the Cyclone at Waterford District High School. This show was such a triumph with such a small team and limited resources, and these two put the cherry on top. They both put their everything into their performances and as actors just beginning their career we cannot wait to see what they do next! 4. Our top director of the month is Jason Mayo who directed Ride the Cyclone. Not only did he direct, music direct and choreograph, but he also designed the lights, sound, projections and he operated the show. He represents what one person can do if they put their mind to it. Jason Mayo is a prime example of someone who cares so deeply about arts education and supports his students to the upmost degree. If you ever get to see Mr. Mayo act, direct or perform as Ms. Cherry, we highly recommend it. 5. Our top script of the month is The Boys in the Band. To be quite honest this is our top script of our lives but we thought we’d do a specific shoutout this month. This show is so beautifully written and its messaging and ideas have lasted since its origin. We also adore the movie adaptation and would recommend it to anyone. Our special mention of the month is Attempts on her life presented by TMU students. We were amazed by everything about this show!

Our Artistic Director might be doing a couple things on this show… and gosh she is very excited :) Grace Delamere (she/they) is a Canadian queer and genderqueer artist. They are a theatre performer and creator. She is a graduate of Queen’s University with a joint honours in Theatre and Music. They are passionate about being a part of new works in Canada, especially those created by and/or for marginalized individuals. They thoroughly enjoy the art of making theatre, whether she is on or off the stage. Theatre is a medium of storytelling through which we can spread important messages and genuine joy and comfort to audiences and artists. It is a place where untold stories can be heard, and unsung voices can be amplified. Theatre feels like home to Grace; it is where they feel most comfortable and where they feel most held. She aspires to create and contribute to environments where anyone would feel safe to enter and interact. Grace has written and produced three original plays, Violets Bloom in April and Marigolds in Autumn, Sharing is Caring, and Soft-Core Femme Erotica (uncensored). She has also had the immense pleasure of producing her talented friends’ work, The Cape as Red as Blood by Kathleen Greening and EXPERIMENT 1a by Elsa McKnight. She is so excited to share There is No Anger like that of a Woman, which has been a labour of love and anger throughout the past two years. She is also ecstatic to be onstage again.

Introducing another incredible member of our team: Abi Boatright is our Co-Producer, Stage Manager, and Tech lead, as well as one of the developers of the script! Abi Boatright (All Pronouns) is a producer, audio and performance artist, filmmaker and stage performer from rural southern Ontario. Traced back to growing up in a small agriculture community, Abi’s work focuses on communicating self and individual identity through intimate personal storytelling, a focus on the physical body and physical media, and showcasing the influence of community on self-perception. She explores this through film and sonic expression while translating ideas of discomfort, confusion and alienation toward their identity. With a particular interest in gender and sexuality, Abi’s work aims to document their complicated personal journey with queerness stemming from a rural background laced with acts of hate and conservative mindsets. Creative expression is an avenue in which they tell stories, via sonic or visual expression, and enact personal catharsis via artmaking to build collective consciousness and community. To Abi, art is a means to enact a part of self that has otherwise been concealed in fear or hate. Artmaking allows Abi to reconcile with the past, whilst also ripping into the present with artistic expression fuelled by an evergrowing identity influenced by both their roots and their thirst for diversified experience.

Oh hey… Look at that! Our first team announcement :) Presenting Meg Gibson as Creative Lead and Director of There is No Anger Like That of a Woman. Our 2026 production. Meg Gibson is directing the show as well as leading creative aspects of the production and assisting in script development!! Meg Gibson is an actor, visual artist, and singer/songwriter based in Toronto. She is a 2025 graduate from the National Theatre School’s acting program, where she worked on shows such as Jane Eyre by Erin Shields and The Government Inspector by Nikolai Gogol, as well as new works by emerging artists. Most notably in Toronto, she played Greenhouse in Pucker’s inaugural production of Concord Floral. Her future works include presenting an original puppetry piece in the Mississauga Puppet Festival, as well as playing Emily Brontë in the Toronto workshop of The Bells: A Brontë Musical. Meg is constantly creating and being moved by what others create – particularly being drawn to the magic of theatre. They are a curious and passionate artist, captivated by storytelling and the intersections of various art forms. They have never directed before – unless drama club in the eighth grade counts – but they are grateful for the opportunity to direct this piece and collaborate with such brilliant creatives.

Presenting our first show of 2026! There is No Anger Like That of a Woman, Written by Grace Delamere. Developed by Abi Boatright, Grace Delamere, and Meg Gibson. This is a new Canadian play, that follows a sex worker and her client as they go through an hour that neither of them expected. Witty, furious, and addictively intimate, this show is about desire, power, and a woman who taught herself to play a game that can never be won. We’re so excited to say that There is No Anger Like That of a Woman will be premiering at Hamilton Fringe Festival, and touring to Kingston Fringe Festival and Halifax Fringe Festival. Which one will you attend??? We hope to see you there :) More coming soon….

Of The Sea Productions February Top Picks! Starting this month we are going to amplify some of our favourite artists and pieces of art at the end of every month (our Top Show, Actor, Script, and Designer). We might even throw in some other fun categories now and again! 1. Our Top Show of the month is Summer and Smoke presented by @crowstheatre !! This production was absolutely astounding, it was a beautiful visual and auditory experience. All the performances were incredible and the choices made were so poignant. We highly recommend trying to catch it in its last week if you haven’t already (better yet, go again!) 2. Our Top Actor of the month is @bellaa_reyes . Bella played Nella, Rosemary, and Rosa in Summer and Smoke. She moved so seamlessly between these characters and managed to give them such distinct voices. Speaking of voice, we must acknowledge the absolutely stellar singing voice Bella has which was quite genuinely a highlight of the show for us. 3. Our top script of the month is YAGA by Kat Sandler. While we first read this script in class with @clelia_masks , we have read it many times since and fallen in love with it more each time. After seeing all the beautiful news about the script selling out after the TV show cast was announced, it only seemed fitting that this be our script of the month. 4. Our Top Designer of the month is the ethereal @moonwatch.er . During the Rhubarb 47! Festival, their performance and design stood out as extraordinary. Not only were they onstage with the actor the entire time, they were operating the sound and compositions they had created. It was such a fascinating piece and we cannot wait to see what Moonwatcher does next! Honourable Mention: The entire entity of the Rhubarb 47! Festival @buddiesto what an excellent collection of performances.
