FRIKO GOES OFF THE RECORD
Long time Off the Record favorites Friko released their sophomore album, Something Worth Waiting For.
The record opens with “Guess,” a song that sits with uncertainty — cry or laugh, sink or swim — before arriving, however tentatively, at a choice. A song that “says all the really sad emotional stuff and then gives you one ounce of hope at the end.”
Is that genuine optimism or self-preservation? Maybe it’s both. Maybe it’s a part of moving forward.
Following a debut that resonated the way theirs did, expectation was inevitable, but for @friko4u it was a transition.
“It’s just the act of keeping moving…We try not to think about it too much. We were writing for the second record while we were touring the first record, and we’re [now] writing for the next. You do that to stay sane. Once you’re done with something, then you gotta move on, you’re like, what do I do?” - Niko Kapetan, vocals/lead guitar.
In Volume 7 of Off the Record, Friko curated 13 of the additional artist features, offering a look into their favorite artists, ideas, and influences.

JAKE MINCH GOES OFF THE RECORD
Every word matters for Jake Minch. The Connecticut-born singer-songwriter has a way of crafting lyrics and melodies that feel intensely personal—yet somehow universal.
In Volume 6 of Off The Record he speaks about his debut album, George, a record that captures the grit of growing up and the weight of nostalgia.
From the opener Nostalgia Act to the heart-wrenching closer Twice, Jake’s songs move between fresh storytelling, inside jokes, and moments only he can fully explain.
Working with industry veteran Tony Berg, Jake wrestled with identity, unfamiliar sounds, and shaping an album that is as challenging as it is captivating. George invites listeners to step inside his world.

9 years of @paramore ’s fifth studio album, After Laughter.
The album also introduced “Hard Times,” now one of the band’s most streamed and recognizable songs to date. The lead single became the perfect introduction to the era and remains a staple in the band’s catalog 9 years later. #repost #paramore #afterlaughter
We sat down with alt-indie band @krookedkings to talk about their new chapter of technical songwriting and euphonious instrumental arrangements with their fourth studio album, In Another Life.
Regarding the album, the band explains that “it feels like a completely different direction for us. And I think for a long time we’ve kind of been saying that we want to expand our sonic palette. I feel like this record has the full spectrum of what I think we’re capable of.”

It’s been almost an exact year to the day of the release of @turnstileluvconnection “SEEIN’ STARS/ BIRDS.”
Their fourth studio album, Never Enough, marked a shift in their sound to something more atmospheric, texturized, and emotionally weighted.
We named birds as one the best rock songs of 2025 in our annual ctrl + alt + repeat series, which you can read at offtherecordpress.com🌀
