🎥Testimonial Tuesday‼️
From high school to professional soccer, Kelsey Oyler shares what keeps her coming back to OffTheField.
Kelsey is an OG OffTheField athlete that we’ve trained for the past 8 years. She won 3 state player of the year awards at rocky mountain high school before going on to dominate college soccer, earning 2nd team all American at Gonzaga and 2nd team SEC at Arkansas. Now we’re following her journey as a professional soccer player.
“Kelsey’s greatness comes from her ability to make everyone around her better—her teammates, us as coaches, anyone. She’s one of the best all-around individuals we’ve ever been around, and it’s contagious. Go kill it, Kels!” – Coach T

“Dan has had a bigger impact on the training at OTF, and myself, than anyone in the last 12 years. I’m lucky to call him a mentor.
This last week wyatt and I had the privilege to learn from him again and you can’t even put into words how valuable it was.
We will have a lot coming from these sessions.
Thanks for everything Dan!” — @taylorbateman_

6A Baseball State Champions - Owyhee Storm 🌪️
Owyhee takes down Eagle 9-4 on Saturday afternoon to win the program’s 4th State Championship in 5 years 🏆🏆🏆🏆
This game was worthy of a championship. The two undisputed best teams in the state battled for 7 innings, and the game had pretty much everything. A fan ejection, a home run, clutch hits, and some questionable calls made for a great game with plenty of drama.
Owyhee jumped out to an early 6-0 lead through 3 innings thanks to hits from Nathan Keith, Shelby Pease, and Jack Booth paired with a couple of Eagle errors.
A Kristian Fusco 2-run home run and an Easton Gothberg 2-run double put the Mustangs right back in this one. Owyhee was up 8-4 in the 5th, and Eagle had the bases loaded with only 1 out in the inning. But Nathan Keith, aka The Boogeyman, came in and got the Storm out of the jam. In all of my Owyhee games covered this season, I never saw Keith give up a single run when on the mound ☠️⚰️🪦
The Storm added an insurance run in the 6th, then Keith closed out the game. Owyhee caps off an undefeated State Regional/Championship Series run with a 4th State Title in 5 years. To go along with their back-to-back district championships of course. In their State run, the Storm outscored their five opponents 44-12 😳
✅Thunder Ridge 11-1
✅Rigby 6-1
✅Middleton 5-3
✅Mountain View 13-3
✅Eagle 9-4
🌪️Keith 2.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 K; 2-for-3, 2 2Bs, RBI, 2 R 🥵
🌪️Pease 2-for-3, 3 RBI, R
🌪️Booth 2-for-3, RBI
🐎Fusco 1-for-1, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, R
🐎Gothberg 1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI

Owyhee finishes the season with a 27-5 record, the District Title, and the State Title. 💍🏆

State championship bound 🥍🔥
Huge shoutout to Timberline and Bishop Kelly on making it to the State Championship. Two programs that have put in the work all season long, and now they’ll battle it out for the title tonight.
Good luck tonight boys 👏 #StateChampionship #TheStandard
Wyatt Mellow is a sophomore football player and track athlete at Middleton High School who has trained with me consistently for just over a year. During that time, he has made significant strides thanks to his work ethic, focus, and commitment to improvement.
We’ve placed a strong emphasis on developing his speed and agility, and the results have been outstanding. Wyatt has improved his times across the board, including the 10-yard dash, 40-yard dash, and 100-meter. He now consistently runs in the mid-1.5s in the 10-yard dash, sub-4.8 in the 40, and recently set a personal record in the 100m by breaking the 12-second mark.
Wyatt’s progress is a direct reflection of the effort he brings every day, and he continues to trend upward as an athlete.

⚠️🌪️ CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND 🌪️🚨
Owyhee beats Mountain View 13-3 in 6 innings to advance to the 6A State Championship Game(s)!
For the second straight game in this Championship Series, Owyhee had to overcome an early 3-0 deficit after giving up a couple of singles and an early error. The Storm responded by putting up 13 unanswered runs on Mavs pitching, and Max Menke walked it off via mercy rule. Kelly Leak went the distance on the mound for the Storm, and Jack Booth drove in 5 runs on just two hits 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Mountain View’s loss sent them to elimination Game 5 against Eagle, where the Mustangs won 5-1.
Owyhee is one win away from another State Championship, and faces Eagle today at 2pm 🏆 Eagle came from the elimination bracket, so they’ll have to beat Owyhee twice on Saturday to be crowned champs. 🍿👀

STORM ROLL ON 🌪️
Owyhee erases a 1st inning 3-0 deficit and beats Middleton 5-3 on Thursday night to advance to the State Semis!
The Vikings jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with a couple of singles, an Owyhee error, and a fielders choice in the top of the 1st. The Storm answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the 1st, and a two-run single from Max Manke gave the Storm a 4-3 lead in the 4th inning. Nate Keith added the final insurance run in the 6th with an RBI single.
Christian Zannitto once again threw a complete game and struck a bunch of dudes out. He simply will not stop. Not even after taking a line drive to the knee 💪🏻 I have been saying this dude is one of the best players in the state, but he may very well be THE best pitcher in the state 👀 here are his season stats…
10 wins - 0 losses. 61 innings, 71 strikeouts.
0.80 ERA, BAA .222.

MAVS MOOVE ON 🐮
Mountain View beats Eagle 7-2 on Thursday night to advance to the State Semis! Ryan Yesford was dominant on the mound, going the distance for the complete game W, while also driving in two runs at the plate.
Unfortunately the game had to pause and got pretty scary when Mountain View left fielder Owen Perry suffered a serious leg injury tracking a ball in foul territory. Perry left the game in an ambulance, but not before throwing up the 🤘🏻on the stretcher and telling his teammates to go win it for him. Wishing him nothing but good vibes and a speedy recovery 🙏🏻
When the game resumed, Yesford got right back to work, and shut Eagle out the rest of the way.

Day 2 Week 2 of a new block with Owyhee Hoops.
Working through our foundational change of direction work:
Sprint + Decel.
- Looking for the heel to contact the ground first, then rolling through the foot for a full foot contact on the ground.
- Looking for compliance between the ankle, knee, and hip. Knee should track over the toe, with a positive shin angle.
Lateral Decel: Shuffle, Side-run, Sprint
- Looking for compliance between the ankle, knee, and hip.
- Shin angles should both be pointed in the same direction in the new direction the body is trying to go. Shin angle dictates where the body will go next.
- Torso should be stacked and weight should be distributed over the inside leg. We don’t want the lower half and upper half working in opposite directions.
Compete:
- Working in the same positions as our drill work (shuffle, side-run, sprint) but adding some reaction components as well as a curvilinear movement.
- Hoopers need to be able to stop on a dime and be really good at using the edges of their feet while sprinting/cutting to create leverage against the defensive.
Weight Room:
- Working through a Clean Grip Snatch for full body power and learning how to control load and decel. in an overhead position.
- Working through a Trap Bar Rip w/ Decel. To challenge how fast the athlete can produce force on the pull (concentric contraction) and the stick (eccentric contraction).
- Accessory targets for anything missed in main movements.
