Robert Gallery got picked second in the 2004 NFL Draft. Then he spent the next eight years collecting concussions. (Ouch.) Ibogaine did what the painkillers couldn’t, and now he runs a nonprofit pushing the league to take psychedelic therapy seriously.
We asked Robert why for a full day he thought taking ibogaine was a mistake, what connects athletes and veterans in the psychedelic conversation, and how he’s pitching the NFL to get on board.
The full interview drops in our newsletter tomorrow. 🫠
Monumental move today with President Trump signing of executive order for research on Ibogaine. Blessed to have found healing with my brother @marcusluttrell and be a small part of all the work that @w_bryan_hubbard and all the people present have accomplished in a small period of time.
A big thank you to IOWA Magazine, @uiowaalumni , for sharing Robert Gallery’s story from his alma mater.
After years of navigating the hidden toll of brain trauma and post-career mental health challenges, Robert’s journey toward healing—and his work co-founding Athletes For Care—reminds us why no athlete should face these battles alone.
Through advocacy, education, and access to compassionate care, A4C is proud to stand with athletes like Robert and help them find hope, support, and solutions that honor both their bodies and minds.

Superbowl LX Week
Day 7
Part 2
DAVBOWL
@davhq and @athletes4care were on a mission.
Thats bringing our mission to the field with the Disabled American Veterans Bowl.
This was a high-energy flag football exhibition pitting military veterans against former professional athletes and celebrities. Disabled American Veterans has kept America’s promise to our ill and injured veterans of all generations since 1920. What they do is provide free, lifelong help with benefits, medical rides, employment, Capitol Hill advocacy, disaster relief, and more — at no cost— so no veteran fights alone.
