âOne of our musical heroes,Georg âJojjeâ Wadenius has sadly passed away. He was just amazing. Like many in my generation I first got aware of him due to âKalles klĂ€ttertrĂ€dâ, an animated Swedish childrenâs cartoon that was broadcasted in the mid 70âs. Itâs a perfect display of Jojjeâs musicality and taste. His trademark "sing-along-with-guitar soloâ heavily featured. I loved that track, and still do. In fact Iâve played it to my daughters during their upbringing. They can still ask me to play it, and it will 100% generate huge smiles on their faces when I do. Later on in life, when I got into progressive rock, I found that Jojje turned out to be quite the prolific musician in that genre as well. Made in Sweden is one of my favorite domestic bands of all time, and their "Where do we beginâ is a fantastic record! On top of that Jojje was part of fusion/prog supergroup Solar Plexus and participated on the classic debut Lp by Pugh Rogefeldt ("Ja, dĂ€ Ă€ dĂ€â) together with Janne Carlsson on drums. As Iâm writing this I suddenly realize that all 3 of these formidable musicians has now passed on. Jojje continued to build up an impressive international career, with the in-house band for Saturday night, Blood Sweat & Tears and sessions with the likes of James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Simon & Garfunkel, Robert Plant and Steely Dan. Both me and Fredrik met him a few times over the years. He was super friendly and interested in us âkidsâ. Fredrik met him several times and hung out with him at a guitar clinic here in Stockholm (see photo), and I know Fred shares my admiration for Mr. Wadenius. In closing Iâd like to express our collective gratitude for the abundance of fantastic music heâs gifted to us all. He was truly inspirational. Jojje will be sorely missed!
