Halifax's most influential export. Formed in 1988, Paradise Lost pioneered both death-doom and gothic metal — defining an entire genre and inspiring generations of bands across continents. 17 albums, two million records sold, and a sound that's stayed heavy, melancholic, and unmistakable for over three decades. India sees them for the first time on October 10.
This is a truly unique piece of Metal history: the original cover sketch for "Lost Paradise," the debut album of English Doom/Goth metallers, Paradise Lost (1990, included in this post). This drawing was created by Duncan Fegredo, a British artist known for his renditions of comic book characters like Judge Dredd and Hellboy. He also created the cover of Darkthrone's 1991 debut album, "Soulside Journey."
