What a weekend at the Leica Experience Days in Wetzlar!
Over the course of the entire weekend, Leica invited photographers, companies, and creatives from all over for an amazing meet & greet centered around photography. So many great conversations, inspiring seminars, and genuinely wonderful people all in one place.
A big thank you to Leica for organizing such a special event and for inviting us!
This year, we also brought along a scanner setup to demonstrate how easy it can be to digitize negatives and slides. With us was the completely upgraded and reworked 2025 Plustek 135i — a really impressive device that makes film scanning surprisingly simple while delivering excellent quality.

Ever noticed that the resolution slider in SilverFast changes from green to red at the far end?
That little color shift is more than decoration: it shows you where you are leaving the scanner’s true optical resolution and entering the realm of interpolation.
In the green range, you are working within the scanner’s physical capabilities. In the red range, the file gets bigger — but the scanner is no longer capturing more real detail. Instead, additional pixels are calculated.
That can be useful in some workflows, but for maximum image quality and efficient file sizes, the green zone is usually where the magic happens.

Dieser kleine Farbwechsel ist mehr als nur ein Designelement: Er zeigt Euch, wo Ihr den Bereich der tatsächlichen optischen Scannerauflösung verlasst und in den Bereich der Interpolation gelangt.
Im grünen Bereich arbeitet Ihr innerhalb der physikalischen Möglichkeiten Eures Scanners. Im roten Bereich wird die Datei zwar größer – der Scanner erfasst aber nicht mehr echte Details. Stattdessen werden zusätzliche Pixel berechnet.
Das kann in manchen Workflows sinnvoll sein. Für maximale Bildqualität und effiziente Dateigrößen liegt der Sweet Spot aber meistens im grünen Bereich.
