TOP 8 STREET DANCE BATTLE Day 2:
IN CONVERSATION was meant to be a dialogue between Irish and Nigerian street dance artists – two cultures, one cypher. A meeting of minds and movements.
Then life took a turn. Our Irish co‑founder, Tobi Omoteso, suffered a serious injury that required surgery, and the planned travel to Lagos could not happen. It was a quiet blow to our shared dream.
But we decided the conversation must still happen. Because if we couldn't bring Ireland to Lagos, we would honour the spirit of connection by turning the mic on our own.
So on that evening at RapJoint Lagos, Nigerian street dance leaders sat down to talk. Here is what we covered:
· Origins & Soul – Where our dance came from, the streets that shaped us, and the cypher as our first church.
· Structure & Recognition – How institutions, platforms, and spaces can support the culture without stealing its voice.
· Synthesis & Future – Building infrastructure, archiving our history, and taking Nigerian dance to the world.
No trophies. No eliminations. Just real talk about where we've been, where we're going, and how we build the culture together.
