being a fish sucks, because you have to deal with alien abduction everyday. one day you live normally and suddenly you’re being teleported to dimension where the air burns your lungs, and you get thrown back and expected to act normal.
so you think, “okay maybe the problem is here,” and swim deeper like it’s some kind of life upgrade, but now it’s dark, the pressure is insane, you can’t see anything, and somehow it’s worse, and you realize you didn’t fix anything.
The system is fair. Everyone has a place. Differences are necessary. They keep things working. No one is excluded. Everyone agrees. The system works well.

Introducing the next official artist for JICAF 2025, Ode Baskara, who was born and raised in Bali, that now leads Florto Studio as a graphic designer and illustrator. He finds inspiration in the myths he adores, the books he reads, and the songs he plays on loop. Being colorblind allows him to see the world differently and design in ways that are accessible and friendly to all eyes.

No Longer Human is inspired by Osamu Dazai’s novel which explore the themes of alienation, identity, and the struggle to stay true to yourself in a world full of expectations.
Through this artwork, I wanted to capture the struggle of trying to find where you belong while society pushes you to conform. As I worked on it, I reflect on my own experiences of feeling disconnected, questioning who I am, and wondering, am I no longer human?
