Shared a WIP of Looks like Porcelain, Smells like Meat recently. Here’s some photos and some responses from the evening. I’m so thankful to my cast of dancers who went on this quick exploration with me (we had about 5 hrs total of rehearsal as an ensemble :o) and for their trust in the process. Their performances were incredibleeeeee and I received some useful feedback to keep digging deep and developing this work in all its grotesquely tender glory 🥩🫧 🩸Photos by @rosskernahan 🩸Performed at @chisenhaledance as part of Devil’s advocate night 💢Dancers: @nellweatherby_ @pollymann_ @muchadoaboutlindsay @celestechiappetta @j.n.c.w @jessixaridge

Are You Human 🧩 A short Screendance work inspired by my many failed attempts of passing a CAPTCHA test while interrogating the accessibility of these things. This work was made in collaboration with some incredible humans. I was really excited to work with @one_eyed_hound for the composition as we both like to approach things through research before creating something. As a result, he incorporated Maya Angelou’s voice along with a melody that actually spells out the word HUMAN in binary (the language of machines) throughout the track ◽️◼️ Director and Choreographer: @oddalys_____________ Human: @jacquelyntepper CAPTCHA: @darinkabp Producer: @mattystfu and @grey__moth AD: @theflyingfanny Composer: @one_eyed_hound DOP: @willow.hazell 1st AC: Arie Priede Steadicam: @steadijayy Gaffer: Archie Sinclair Spark: @briantohtoh Runner: @catherinestagram

INTRODUCING... Are you human 💥Directed by: Oddalys Salcido 🌍From: UK 💫Made in: 2025 Captchas have evolved into near-impossible puzzles and proving you’re human is harder than before. As endless streams of meme culture and brain rotting content flood our screens, people are pushed to absurd and surreal lengths just to verify their existence. The film explores the blurring lines between flesh and machine, questioning how dance may be the last indicator of being human. - "Are you human" explores the crossovers between technology and Screendance, a continuous theme we can see throughout Oddalys's work whilst studying on the Screendance MA course at @theplacelondon . "Are you human" will be shown as part of our "New Voices: Graduate screening" during our Frame Rush festival this year on 19 September 2025. - Grab your ticket to see "Are you human" and our other Graduate films through the link in our bio 💌 - ✨Director spotlight: @oddalys_____________ Oddalys Salcido is a queer latina choreographic media artist born and raised on the internet. Their work slips between movement, film, interactive installations, and critical theory. Rooted in dance and expanded through screendance, their practice explores how bodies, especially those marked by queerness and racialization can perform, transform, and exist. Their work invites urgent, joyful, and speculative play toward futures where bold emotionality and radical tenderness are not only possible, but necessary. #filmfestival #screendance #dancefilm #framerush #technology

A master of the arts in Screendance! I’m thankful for the love and support of my friends, colleagues, lecturers, and m🖤. But especially to my parents for everything they have done so that I can stand on their shoulders and create new pathways for others. “Because I am their daughter, I can never fail.” I’m now on a graduate visa and am planing on staying in London for the next two years to continue my research in dance and technology with the vibrant community here. Currently, I’m teaching as a graduate assistant for the next MA Screendance 2025 cohort at London Contemporary Dance School. I’m also co-directing @preheatfest to continue to share the love of dance films to audiences! I’m equally excited and terrified of the unknown of the future but cannot imagine myself spending time solving any other puzzlessss🪄
