Thank you all for visiting the
@wiktoria_w__________ sculpture during its inauguration!
We would especially like to thank to the artisanal quarry of Antoine Bodart (Carrière Albotom) for donating the stone of Calcaire de Longpré and PCS Albert for helping to organize the picnic and voting on a name for the stone. We will soon be selecting one to be placed on the sculpture.
We are happy that Wikoria's work will now forever remain in the landscape of Anderlecht!
You can visit it anytime at 13 Square Albert 1er
* Remember to touch it! *
During the residency at Komplot, the artist developed her public sculpture project that turns to the local community to actively integrate them within the artwork. For a few weeks, the outdoor space became her daily atelier, and while working on the sculpture, any passer-by could join and touch the stone, and that is how the 3-ton rock became an inclusive space for sharing experiences and touch. It was these intimate encounters, yet still embedded in the public space, that complemented the work, making it a space that fuses. The bodily aspect and seeing with touch are crucial, which makes the sculpture incomplete without the body. Each time, in contact with the human it transforms, creating diverse unities, by being constantly performed by people: their faces, hands, ears, skin, and the space in-between two natural surfaces.
