Last Saturday, nearly 30 of our Six Points For Kids volunteers headed over to the Special Olympics Spring Games to welcome athletes with cheers, high-fives, and encouragement during the Opening Ceremony at Irvine High School. From the moment the athletes arrived, the excitement was contagious! Thank you to everyone who came out to support these incredible athletes and help make the morning so special. 💛🏅

Deputies from our @ocsdnorthpatrol and Behavioral Health Bureau (BHB) responded near the 17th Street bridge in the City of Santa Ana after reports that an individual had attempted to dig a tunnel beneath the bridge. During the incident, a portion of the bridge collapsed, trapping the individual beneath concrete and debris.   BHB worked alongside North Patrol deputies in a Unified Command with @ocfireauthority and @ocpublicworks to coordinate rescue efforts and secure the area. When Public Works determined the bridge was safe for rescue personnel to enter, firefighters located the individual. Tragically, the person was pronounced deceased at the scene.   Incidents like this highlight the serious dangers associated with trespassing in restricted areas and unauthorized activity around critical infrastructure. Enforcement efforts by both North Patrol and BHB play an important role in protecting individuals who may find themselves in dangerous or crisis situations. Our deputies remain committed to proactive enforcement and connecting vulnerable individuals with resources whenever possible.

Rehabilitation includes maintaining the connections that matter most. Through the PIVOT program, 153 handmade cards were created and sent from the James A. Musick and Theo Lacy Facilities. Each one carrying a personal message to a mother or caregiver, recognizing the role mothers and caregivers play in supporting growth and accountability. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department remains committed to programs like PIVOT that encourage accountability, positive engagement, and stronger family connections.

What started as a routine traffic stop at 2:07 this morning quickly turned into a narcotics and weapons seizure. During the stop, a Deputy from San Juan Capistrano’s Special Enforcement Team seized more than 2,000 grams of fentanyl, 1,300 grams of methamphetamine, 700 grams of heroin, 300 grams of ketamine, 2 PCP cigars , 26 pieces of alprazolam, 2 grams of marijuana, 2 loaded firearms , including a ghost gun, and more than $7,200 in cash. Three suspects were arrested. Substances like fentanyl continue to affect families and communities but proactive enforcement efforts like this help prevent these deadly narcotics from reaching our neighborhoods.
