Working with foraged clay has some unexpected and interesting outcomes. I’m trying to figure out if I can recreate this in sculpture or encourage more live growth by keeping the clay wet and in its own little greenhouse for longer periods. One of my favorite stages in creating a painting is setting up the scene. I start by sculpting forms, right now mostly in clay (often foraged), and arranging them into little worlds that will later become the foundation for my work on canvas.
