Here’s little story about a country gospel song called Ain’t No Grave written by Claude Ely in 1934. It was recorded and performed in a more Black Gospel style by Bozie Sturdivant in July 1942. Over the years it has been covered many times but most famously by Johnny Cash in 2003 right before his death. It was later released in 2010.
This brings me to 2024. Meet @tiffanyaustinmusic a talented Jazz singer from the Bay Area. She covered the song beautifully and it caught the attention of Bay Area producer, and my brother @djcecil . He did his thing and with her haunting vocal back in early 2019. I’m so excited to be able to share this with you now on @ocharecords . For those of you not familiar with Tamara Wellons, she is the jazzy, soulful spirit that brought you the 2007 hit Oh Well. This is her 2nd single from her upcoming full length on Ocha Records and is already getting support from Mr. V, Karizma, Jojo Flores, Osunlade and Marques Wyatt.
Jihad Muhammad starts it off with the original mix in very sexy, musical way with some wonderful piano work. It is then handed off to Abicah Soul and Lars Berhrenroth who put their unique spin with a remix and dub respectively that will move any crowd.
