Hiroshi Sugimoto’s beautiful glass tea house ‘Mondrian’.
“a modest house where one can hear the birds sing. I like to think that this tea house was built by Mondrian after he heard Sen no Rikyû speaking to him through the singing of the birds.” - Sugimoto

Back in my sanctuary with some precious finds from the north 🤍
my highlight is the hand-carved wooden citrus press (treen) potentially from late 1800s / early 1900s. And the pretty willow grouse by Oiva Toikka from 1981 🪿I also love the 100 year old hand woven textile (unfortunately the origin is not known but most likely Scandinavia)
PS: currently in my Estonian choir music era. ✨

Antique heaven ☁️ One of my favorite holiday activities: browsing antique (book) shops and indulging in objects and books. I think these places, their collections of objects tell so much about the history, traditions, and craftsmanship of a place.
Aino & Alvar Aalto‘s home, Riihitie 20, Helsinki.
〰️
Today I learnt that aalto means „wave“ in Finnish which is reflected in many of Aino and Alvar Aalto’s designs.
