Huge shoutout to @anariveraabc11 for reaching out, and to videographer Bob for listening to me ramble about OCD and clay long enough to turn it into something you all can actually watch.
Combining two of my biggest passions—OCD advocacy and working with clay—has brought me so much joy. But it’s not always easy.
One of my most prominent OCD themes is contamination OCD around clay dust. Recently I’ve been moving my studio into my garage (the one you see in the segment), and it’s been a real challenge for my mental health.
Every time I touch clay.
Every time I make art.
Every time I share about it online.
I’m facing my fears.
But creating work with deeper meaning—and getting to connect with other people with OCD—makes it worth it. Every conversation at a market, every DM, every “omg this is so cool, I have OCD too” reminds me why I keep doing this.
I thrive when I’m connecting and helping build this community locally through my work with @ocdnc and more broadly through my work with the @iocdf
OCD treatment has been life-saving. And the OCD community has been life-changing. I’m so thankful to be part of it—and to contribute in this way.
