The Set Designer’s Workshop for @marcantoinebarrois
When Marc-Antoine Barrois commissioned me to do “anything I wanted” for the Full Permission room in their new flagship store, I found myself coming back to a theme in my work and research: the art of set design itself as something worth showcasing.
I loved this project not only because of the trust the team placed in me, but the future initiative of the space: to bring in emerging spatial designers and have them design whatever they want every 4 months or so. I hope as the inaugural artist here my love letter to set design came across and will pave the way for future designers.
Process photos and pictures from the night coming soon next post, so stay tuned.
Thank you to the amazing artists who donated pieces to the space and who deserve so much credit:

My exhibition "Weimarisms" was featured in the Bühnen Technische Rundschau. The article, "Will to Shine" by Claudia Assmann explores select pieces from the group exhibition "Materialize Me!".
Thank you @audick_udk_buehnenbildklasse and @ballhausost for making this possible. As a treat, I have included some of the process work and reference photos explored in the article.
I hope you enjoy!
My exhibition titled “Weimarisms” opened at @ballhausost a few weeks ago as a part of the @audick_udk_buehnenbildklasse 💜

Inspired by the visual and historical context of the Weimar republic, “Weimarisms” blends spatial design and painting to connect the worlds of 1920s and 2020s Berlin.
“Weimarisms”, to the artist, are modern-era repetitions of the Weimar period, explored here through collaged vignettes of nightlife rituals, childhood toys, and german history.
These miniature worlds visualize the underbelly of our collective cultural desires: escapism, the ecstatic, and a return to imagined ideas of home and an
idealized past. Based on current research during the @fulbrightgermany grant period.
Death Takes a Holiday
A drawing/collage based on the German historical research and art I’ve discovered in my time here (heimat/stab in the back myth/ afd resurgence)- plus a few of the many research pictures taken this far.
Exhibiting twice in Berlin next month, come say hi :)
Excited to share some of these independent and collaborative projects I’ve been able to work on over the past few months with the support of @udkberlin & @fulbrightgermany

German Expressionist Design Experiment

Pulling from German Expressionist Film Designs, I have been exploring and teasing out what other works might have been created if the period hadn’t been cut short by the depression and World War II. I created this one after seeing Metropolis with a Live Orchestra at the historic @babylonberlin , combing images of random places (in this instance a series of cliff caves by the ocean and a theatrical show) with the traditional style and some figments of my imagination.
I’ll be sharing these final experiments here and more process and research on substack.

I know everyone and their mother has a substack now, but I really have enjoyed the formatting and content over there for artistic folks and thought I would try sharing some of my experience in a way I might not normally! Researching and creating on this Fulbright has resulted in so much material I’d like to share with you all, so go check it out 🔎

✭✭Expressionist Europe in May ✭✭ @sigourneyheaton and I met up after her semester abroad and backpacked to a million places. I found out about Fulbright in the midst of this, so everything started looking a bit German expressionist along the way
