Hey All - I have a #graveltraveler SL Open Platform on Sale on my site. Its the last one I have and it is super fantastic. The SL designation comes from the Columbus Spirit and Life tubing used to make a light and beautiful riding bike. The Open Platform means that the frame is ready for whatever styling you want to setup. If you want a hard mount for tank bags we can make that happen, if you want and extra bottle mount under the DT we can do that. Make it your own. The frame is raw and comes with a single color powder and decal set of your choice. I also have some well priced fork options to go with this should you want to make it a frame set. At some point the day would come that I would have to sell this special bike. While I'm hesitant to let it go for various reasons, I just don't ride it enough to keep it in the quiver. It's one of the best road bikes I have ever ridden, though short on miles, and has a spot for me due to it being a tribute bike to my family's old company. In 2019 the kind folks @grinduro asked me to be part of their builder expo. It was also my first time working with @sramroad@srammtb and became friends with @rustyspindle . They gave me the opportunity to build a bike I had been thinking about for a long time. A modern mtb that could do double duty as an drop bar adventure bike and as a legit mtb. It was rad then pinning mount hough on my version. This is James’s version. His #rideoffintothesunset ride. Complete with an @oddity_cycles truss fork. "It started as a collaboration among industry friends to be a show-bike for a handbuilt show that never happened. This is a hardtail MTB designed to be ridden in drop bar or flat bar mode. It uses AXS components and is equipped with an extra brake set so all it takes to swap is loosening a few bolts, cutting a few zip-ties, throwing on another handlebar and re-sorting the MTB brakes."
There are so many small details on this build that highlight the benefits of working with a custom frame builder like @obikeco . This one hot off the presses. I have to say this I one of my favorite paints to date. @vicious.cycles paint shop 🤩🤯. The photos don’t even do it justice. The paint is like magic. It’s deep blue with a Pearl that leans violet. In the sun this thing lights up something amazing. Not a major piece here but like how it came out for this Columbus Max for that will be headed to the east bay in Sf along with the frame. I don’t like having pieces just sort of bolted on so this little piece will hold the backing nut sort of externally countersunk if that’s a thing. Anyway I could have just countersunk the nut to th crown but didn’t like that or the material loss in the back of the crown so this will make it tidy and keep some material there. #makeitmonday #steel #steelroadbike #steelfork #max
