Sharing project ✨ Slat & Sky ✨ This main level renovation was all about creating a brighter, more connected space for a family of four—starting with the heart of the home: the kitchen. By reworking the layout and vaulting the ceiling, the space was opened up both physically and visually, allowing light to pour in and making everyday moments feel a bit more special. One of the standout features is the custom wood slat screen that now gently separates the kitchen from the family’s cozy den. Paired with a new textured wood wall paneling, it preserves the warmth and character of the original space while tying it into the updated design. The result is a home that feels more open, more livable, and perfectly tailored to how the family lives today. We are truly in love with this project. Here's it's story: Original Home: 🏠 - Drummond-built Mid-Century Modern Home located in Prairie Village - Constructed in 1954 Design and Renovation Work: 🔨 - Original wood ceilings defined the design. Instead of white-washing them, all material choices were made to enhance their warm, friendly tone. - New fixtures and finishes are inspired by the Mid-Century aesthetic while adding a modern touch: terrazzo floors, unique light fixtures, waterfall quartz countertops. - The beautiful Drummond "window wall" view was obstructed by kitchen cabinets and partition walls, so the kitchen was opened up to maximize this incredible space. - Existing garage was converted into a family room that now opens onto the new front patio. I’ve just got to share these progress shots from our cabinetry walkthrough yesterday! This stage of the process is so exciting as months of design planning are finally coming to fruition.
