The Gallatin Galleries is proud to present REVERSE IT, curated by Zoe Ogle (MA '27).
Showcasing eleven MA candidates, the exhibition gathers a collection of works coming from the artists' thesis projects and individual practice. By reflecting on oneself, through name, family, data, and sounds, these artists are making sense of broader histories and grappling with the unfamiliarity of once-familiar places and landscapes.
Through textiles, video, sound, design, drawing, photography, memorabilia, and installation, REVERSE IT reminds us that looking back is a way to imagine plausible, ideal, or imaginative futures.
Join us for the opening reception next Tuesday, April 28, from 6–8 p.m. at the Gallatin Galleries. We hope to see you there 💜

My Gallatin Story: Sumaiyya Malik (BA '28), Gallatin Arts Festival (GAF) curator 🎨
💜 What is your concentration?
My concentration is Art History, Curation, Archiving, and Marketing.
💜 What made you decide to transfer to Gallatin?
I decided to transfer to Gallatin because of the diversity of the classes. I knew I wanted to study art history from different lenses, from curation to ethics to business. Gallatin has allowed me to take classes that push me to think about all aspects of art history and how it operates, and I am able to combine this knowledge with interacting with the arts scene here in NYC by visiting exhibits and interning at an art gallery.
💜 What has your GAF experience been like?
I am on the Student Leadership Team as a curator for this year's GAF and it’s been one of my favorite college experiences so far. The curation team is in charge of selecting and then putting together the show that you will see in the Gallatin Galleries. GAF meets once a week as a class and everyone on SLT alongside Professor Keith Miller and GAF director Eliel Peterson are so incredible and creative—they're truly a dream team!
💜 What are you most excited to showcase at GAF?
I am most excited to highlight the artistic community within Gallatin. This school is home to some of the most creative people and I am so thrilled to be able to show the community how talented our peers are. You can expect to see a lot of mixed media and interactive pieces in the gallery this year, it’s going to be a really colorful show!
🎟️ Everyone is invited to join GAF for their opening night celebration tonight from 6–8 at the Gallatin Galleries. We can't wait to see you!

Meet the team behind this year’s Gallatin Arts Festival!!
Our curators, producers and storytellers are so excited to celebrate Gallatin’s creative community and put on a very special festival this April
Step into the Gallatin Galleries and experience All In Our Language, a new exhibition by Gallatin student artists running through Friday, April 3 💜
All In Our Language represents the growing, changing visions of a generation of trailblazers. Featuring themes of environmental consciousness, cultural exploration, and systemic injustice, they aspire for action. The works span drawing, printmaking, film, sculpture, performance, and wearable art while speaking from a place of deep individual inquiry. However, these are not works made in isolation; they are shaped by memory, ecological entanglement, institutional friction, and the body. They emerge from lives actively engaged with the world, not from being another cog in the machine.
What unites this exhibition is a shared orientation toward honesty, care, and the conviction that art-making is a meaningful act. They strive to be heard and convey tangible emotion by their multifaceted elements and ask, who gets to tell a story? All In Our Language showcases what systems we resist and participate in and how identity is constructed. Nothing is linear, but just like language it is ever evolving.
👋 Join us for the opening reception on Monday, March 27, from 6–8 PM. All are welcome!

🚨Panel: Music, Tech & Algorythms
What happens when the beat meets the machine?
Join us for a powerful conversation at the intersection of sound, technology, and artificial intelligence in contemporary Hip-Hop. From sampling and synthesis to beat algorithms and AI-generated vocals, the music of tomorrow is already here, and it’s raising urgent questions about authorship, access, and equity.
How are producers and artists using digital tools to expand creative possibility?
How do we resist surveillance, cultural appropriation, and the corporatization of Black sonic innovation?
