"It's not often that a parent and child can experience such a transformative academic journey side by side." Meet Quincy and Kayin St. Georges, a mother-and-son duo graduating together as members of the NYU SPS Class of 2026 with their MS in Project Management from @nyusps_mt / @nyudpb . Quincy, a student life counselor in Miami, returned to school after more than two decades, while Kayin brought his comfort with online learning from his homeschool experience. Together, they supported each other through assignments, shared ideas, encouraged one another during stressful moments, and are now using what they learned to develop a social media app as cofounders. "We are using our project management skills to create a comprehensive project management plan, including defining the scope, building a work breakdown structure, managing timelines, and identifying potential risks," she explains. St. Georges encourages prospective and current students to "stay organized, manage your time effectively, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The reward at the end is worth it." On April 8, faculty members from @nyusps , Matthew Sawyer and Marcela Miguel Berland in @nyuspsimc , participated in the Global Trade and Investment Forum at @cornelluniversity ’s Center for International Business Acceleration. Adjunct assistant professor Sawyer moderated the panel "Voices from the Frontline: International Leaders on Making It In America." The discussion explored the challenges and opportunities facing international companies operating in the United States amid ongoing political and economic volatility. In addition to Adjunct instructor Berland, panelists included Cherry Lin, founder and CEO of Taiwan Materials Corp. and Carbonix Materials LLC; Sylvain Dronet, CEO of Andros North America; and @yasmine.mansson , CEO and founder of @sthlmnycagency Communications. A central theme of the discussion was the importance of sustained brand investment in the face of rising costs, fluctuating exchange rates, and tariffs. As the session concluded, a clear consensus emerged: although the mechanics of global trade are evolving, the core drivers of success remain fundamentally human. @nyudpb /@nyucga adjunct assistant professor Burdin Hickok is quoted in this @aljazeera piece on how the Iran war has triggered a sharp $120 billion sell-off in UAE markets—hitting investor confidence and key sectors like travel—while still being viewed as a short-term shock rather than a lasting threat to the country’s long-term financial ambitions. "'From a long-term perspective, I don’t see this volatility as exceptional,' Hickok told Al Jazeera. 'The fundamental attractiveness of both stock markets is not changing, meaning regulatory or capital restrictions, which would be a more fundamental change,' he added." Link in bio to read more.

The recent Future Workforce Global Summit at @nyubuenosaires set the stage with a forward-looking exploration of technology, workforce transformation, and innovation across Latin America. The day opened with the launch of a landmark collaboration between @nyudpb and @iae_austral , reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing human capital in the region. Through a series of live case studies and expert panels, discussions examined the innovation ecosystem of Buenos Aires, inclusive workforce challenges, and the evolving role of public sector and academia. Sessions also explored how organizations are reimagining talent pipelines, fostering whole-system workforce health, and leveraging technology as a key driver of change. Held alongside the Global Field Intensive, the summit also welcomed 20 @nyusps.hcm students to NYU Buenos Aires to learn about the art and science of Global HR Management. Across the day, one idea stood out clearly: the future of work will be shaped not by any one sector alone, but by the strength of collaboration across institutions, industries, and leaders committed to building more adaptive, inclusive, and human-centered systems. In that spirit, we remain committed to advancing NYU’s global university agenda. Link in bio to learn more about NYU SPS Human Capital Management and sign up for an upcoming info session.

"Now, my easiest definition of home is New York City and the people at SPS." - Niranjana Rau, an MS in Project Management student and president of the SPS Graduate Student Council. "As a third-culture kid from UAE and India, defining home has always been slightly difficult. But living in multiple places and living alone since I was 18 has given me the strength and resilience that define me as a person. My support system — my family and friends always taught me to aim for the stars, knowing they would be cheering me on always." Niranjana has appreciated the resources available to her as an international student. "NYC and SPS truly accept you for your diversity and help you thrive in your uniqueness. As a young Indian woman building her career, SPS has provided me with a platform to meet people from diverse backgrounds and hone my own story, preparing me for what’s next."
