NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to sponsor @westchestercountyparks and @thewpf Bicycle Sundays, where community members are invited to walk, bike, and jog along the Bronx River Parkway on select Sundays from May through early October in a safe, traffic-free environment. At the event’s kickoff, Danielle LeStrange, director of nursing and critical care services at #NYPWestchester, connected with riders about how small lifestyle changes can make a big difference for their health. She was one of the first riders to kick-off the season this past Sunday. NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support @trustforpublicland (TPL), a nonprofit dedicated to creating and expanding access to parks and green spaces across New York City. TPL’s Community Schoolyard program has helped transform asphalt playgrounds into public parks for students and community members at the Inwood Community Campus and Corlears Complex in Manhattan, I.S. 145 Joseph Pulitzer School in Queens, and M.S. 35 Stephen Decatur in Brooklyn. Each of these spaces is accessible to the public after school hours and on weekends. NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support @thepeoplestheatrenyc , a nonprofit based in Washington Heights and Inwood dedicated to making theatre with and for immigrant communities. Since 2010, #NYP has helped fund scholarships for students to attend The Academy for Theatre, Leadership & Advocacy, and helped fund free, immersive theatre programs at I.S. 173 and the Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School. With the hospital’s support, The People’s Theatre has also expanded its staffing and is nearing completion on The People’s Theatre: Centro Cultural Inmigrante, the city’s first cultural center dedicated to the immigrant experience and the largest Latino theatre in New York State. NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support @wearephsny (PHS), a nonprofit dedicated to helping New York families access essential services for health and well-being. At NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, our teams collaborate with PHS to connect Emergency Department patients to key resources including housing support, food pantry services, and assistance with utility bills. #NYP also works with PHS through our Community Health Worker program, which helps pediatric and pregnant patients access nutrition support, childcare resources, health insurance, and other essentials to achieve the best health outcomes. NewYork-Presbyterian was proud to sponsor the 6th annual Westchester Women’s Summit, an event that brought together leading women’s voices to mark #WomensHistoryMonth. Featuring a keynote address by award-winning journalist Hoda Kotb, who discussed her career and shared advice for women across all industries, the summit also spotlighted physicians and care team members from #NYPWestchester, #NYPHudsonValley, #NYP Westchester Behavioral Health and NewYork-Presbyterian The One. Dr. Dora Kanellopoulos, chief of inpatient specialty services at NYP Westchester Behavioral Health, led a discussion on women and body image, and Dr. Mzimeli Morris, director of labor and delivery at NYPWestchester, hosted a panel on understanding health care across a person’s lifespan. “We want to help keep families and our communities healthy and help them get back to doing what they love,” said Tara Ritchie, Vice President of Operations, NewYork-Presbyterian The One. NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support @voceslatinas , a Queens-based non-profit dedicated to reducing HIV transmission and domestic violence. A recent recipient of a NewYork-Presbyterian Community Fund grant, Voces Latinas provides free sexual health services and mental health screenings, connects community members to health coverage and city programs, and offers legal guidance for newly arrived immigrants. The organization also addresses social determinants of health through workforce preparedness programs, including technology training and English language education.
