Join us for a virtual briefing on NYC’s Housing Growth Strategy. 📅 May 6 🕐 1:00 PM or 5:30 PM (check our story for links to register) We’ll walk through how the City is planning to tackle rising housing costs and expand housing choice, and how you can be part of the conversation. This work focuses on three key questions: • How much new housing does NYC need? • Where should we build it? • How can we overcome barriers to building housing equitably? Right now, we’re not building enough housing to meet the needs of a growing city. While some neighborhoods have added homes, overall production hasn’t kept pace which is contributing to rising costs and fewer options for renters. The Housing Growth Strategy will provide a framework to help communities and policymakers work together to address these challenges. A Q&A will follow the presentation. The Housing Growth Strategy is a collaboration between HPD and the NYC Department of City Planning. #nychousing #affordablehousing #urbanplanning #nyc #housing 🎨: Ayan Rahman, HPD Digital Specialist

Congratulations to our general counsel Alec Schierenbeck, Richard Buery and all the members of the 2025 Charter Revision Commission for the well-deserved @chpcny Housing Impact Award!    In November, New York City voters overwhelmingly approved Charter Commission’s proposals to acclerate affordable housing production across the five boroughs.     In Alec’s words:  “Their votes send a message about the enormity of our housing crisis. And, more deeply, about New Yorkers desire for a government that can act with the urgency and scale that our challenges require.    “New Yorkers have given the City new tools. But tools don’t use themselves. Now it’s up to City leaders to shape what they mean...and translate demands at the ballot box into action.”
