Gender equity isn’t one issue, and it won’t be solved by a single conversation. The 2025 State of NYC Women Report reveals how overlapping crises are shaping the lives of women and families across our city. From maternal health disparities, youth mental health crises, digital harms, unaffordable childcare, to fragmented safety systems. • 63–65% of NYC households with young children face income inadequacy • 50% of NYC households cannot meet basic needs • Short-term funding cycles and inequitable digital systems threaten long-term solutions These challenges are connected, and our solutions must be too. The 2025 State of NYC Women Report provides a framework for change, calling for the redesign of systems to enable women to hold meaningful power across all sectors. The workers who hold New York's human services sector together deserve a budget that reflects the value of their work. Governor Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, and Assembly Speaker Heastie are finalizing the State budget right now. Before it is released, they need to hear from all of us. At Women Creating Change, in partnership with Human Services Council, we are calling on New Yorkers to email state leadership and demand a 4% investment for all human services programs. With federal cuts putting greater strain on local services, this is not a wish. It is a necessity. To take action and learn more about the campaign, visit the Link in Bio! #JustPay #WageEquity #HumanServices #NYS #FairPay #NonprofitWorkers #WomenCreatingChange @nycmayor

Nonprofit human services workers keep New York City's communities running. More than half are women of color, and in 2023, their average salary in 2023 was just $36,688. Additionally, nearly one in five rely on food stamps to feed their own families. This is a gender equity issue. And it demands action. Today, WCC’s President and CEO, Sharon Sewell-Fairman, who serves on the @hscny , joined advocates at City Hall to rally for the #JustPay campaign. Stand with us for wage justice. Call your City Council representative and ask them to: 1) Continue funding a 3% COLA for City-contracted human services workers through 2026-2027. 2) Pass the Wage Equity Legislation (Int 0452-2026) to raise salaries for nonprofit human services workers. These actions only take a few minutes and they make a real difference: - To find your Representative, visit the Link in Bio! - Tips for calling your Legislator: Link in Bio! #WomenCreatingChange #JustPay #WageEquity #HumanServices #NYC #FairPay #NonprofitWorkers @nycmayor

This National Women's Health Week, WCC is committed to making sure every woman has the information, resources, and support she needs to take care of herself. From May 11–17, we’re reminded to care for both our mind and body. This year’s focus highlights three key areas impacting women across the U.S.: menopause, mental health, and cancer. Whether navigating life transitions, addressing mental health challenges, or prioritizing early detection, having the information you need is a critical first step. Take a moment this week to share this with your communities and visit (Link in Bio!) to access a free, ready-to-use health toolkit. #WomenCreatingChange #NationalWomensHealthWeek #NWHW2025 #WomensHealth #HealthEquity #WomensWellbeing #MenopauseAwareness

Happy Mother's Day from all of us at Women Creating Change. Today, we honor every mother and caregiver who shows up for their families, communities, and each other. Caregiving is foundational, but too often, the systems meant to support mothers fall short. In NYC, Black women are 9 to 12 times more likely to have fatal complications from pregnancy-related causes. Provider shortages in safety-net hospitals and clinic closures continue to disproportionately affect uninsured and underinsured patients, leaving too many mothers without the care they need when it matters most. Honoring mothers means more than recognition; it means advocating for the policies, resources, and systems that support them. Today, take a moment to celebrate the caregivers in your life and recommit to fighting for the healthcare, economic security, and systemic support they deserve. To learn more about maternal health, read our full 2025 State of NYC Women Report: Link in Bio. #WomenCreatingChange #MothersDay #MaternalHealth #ReproductiveJustice #HealthIsJustice #NYCWomen #EconomicJustice #SupportMothers
