Hello everyone! We’re 26 days away from the 2nd Annual NYC Doll Convention, and all the staff and volunteers are excited to see everyone at the 52A Event Space, Building 5, in Industry City, Brooklyn, on April 18th & 19th. We have finalized our panel schedule for the convention! We have greater capacity in both our panel rooms this year. We have signups as we did last year to 1) measure interest in the panels and 2) where necessary, arrange for pre-registration, especially for workshops that require payment for materials. As we did last year, we will have standby lines at the convention by each panel room if you want to attend a panel/workshop you did not initially sign up for. The link to the signup is is in our bio **The form is not currently open**. The form will open at 7:00 PM ET on 3/27. Only register for panels/workshops you plan to attend. Do not register for panels/workshops that overlap. If you do, we will cancel the registrations for both. Please read everything carefully and fill out the form slowly. A copy of your responses will be sent to you after you fill out the form, please consider this your registration confirmation. Registration will be checked at entry to the panel/workshops. Games do not require registration and will be first-come, first-serve. Descriptions of the panels are posted on our Instagram. The second part, covering everything except vendors and artists at the New York BJD Con, might be useful for those who, like me, prefer to find out everything possible about an event they’re going to attend :) I didn’t know what to expect, so I was a bit nervous, and I made a couple of mistakes—and maybe my quick look helps! Especially if you’re going to attend the next NYC Con! First of all, as trite as it may sound—don’t worry! @nycdollcon is a highly professional team, and everyone is so nice and ready to help ❤️ Even as a non-native English speaker who has been living in the U.S. for less than a year, I didn’t feel confused or lost—thanks to the team, the volunteers, and the whole community! ❤️❤️ Second, please pay attention to activities that take place in two additional areas: the Theater and the Workshop! Some of them require preregistration, but they’re all worth it! We attended @tianba0830 Faceup Tutorial and @69resin Synthetic Wig Styling, Cutting, and Care. So useful—thank you for being willing to share your knowledge with us 🙂‍↕️ Third, there are dioramas/photo zones where you can take pictures of your dolls, so it’s a nice idea to bring a camera! Thank you to everyone who created them! And finally—the moment I can count as my mistake. There is no place to display your dolls for longer than the duration of a themed meetup. This was completely different from all my previous experiences, when there were guest tables where you could place your doll(s) and go shopping hands-free for the whole day. Also, there is no room to store your bags, doll carriers, etc. Usually, it’s quite the opposite—we’re strictly prohibited from carrying bulky backpacks and bags in the booth aisles, but here it’s better to have something like that. The good part is that the aisles are very wide and there’s plenty of space :) I’m so happy we made it there! It was tough schedule-wise, but so intense, interesting, and inspiring!
