Thank you to @nycbar for allowing me to attend the Consumer Affairs Committee’s annual conference! As a 2L it was great to hear from and network with practitioners from all sides of consumer financial law. Listening to talks from experts ranging from debtor/creditor litigators to city and state regulators, I walked away from the full day with a clearer idea of the kind of law I want to practice after I graduate.
It was especially enlightening to meet Mr. Levin from @hellodcwp . I had no idea the range of industries this Department oversees! Even though federal agencies may seem to be waning in enforcement priorities, knowing that the City is taking ample steps to fill that gap and lead the way for the future tied in nearly to my research from this year.

On Wednesday, March 11, members of the New York City Bar Association’s Policy Department joined advocates in Albany for a Wifi4Homeless lobby day, organized in partnership with VOCAL-NY, Coalition for the Homeless, and the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU).
Advocates gathered at the State Capitol to highlight the urgent need to ensure that individuals and families living in temporary housing have reliable and secure internet access. The day included a rally and meetings with state legislators, where advocates urged policymakers to include funding and clear policy requirements for internet access in temporary housing in the FY2027 New York State budget.

From victim to whistleblower to award recipient (I still can’t believe that I spoke at the New York City Bar Association last week!), and finally getting to be in the same room again with the incredible @slyfoxbriannejoseph , my wonderful co-host of Love Con Revenge.
This recognition from the @nycbar of my advocacy work means something far bigger than me. It belongs to every person who has ever felt too ashamed to say what happened to them.
Romance fraud thrives in silence. The antidote is visibility, accountability, and the refusal to let shame win.
