We are thrilled to introduce our May DLAR artist, Anastasiia Vorobiova.
Anastasiia Vorobiova is a digital and new media artist exploring digital memory, human-nonhuman interactions and virtual environments. Working with VR, AI-generated narratives and interactive installations, she examines the impermanence of digital spaces, the evolution of online communities and the fluidity of identity in virtual worlds. She holds an MA in Design from Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. In 2016, she was awarded the Gaude Polonia Scholarship by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, supporting her research in digital and media arts. Her work is informed by cyberfeminism, avatar-body relationships and the interplay between the actual and the virtual, as well as broader themes of myth, philosophy and spirituality.
During her time at deer lake, Anastasiia will be focusing on research and screen videos as part of their creative process for a new long-form theatre work.

I’ll make it fake, just like me 💖
Actually, AI generated content from social media don’t really dampens our spirits anymore for being fake.
What matters instead is circulation: visibility, affect, and engagement! 🥵
Let’s observe our behavior on Instagram: a post with a good amounts of likes, most probably we’ll fell like to add our like too🤦♀️. It’s already carries authority our automatic respect, regardless of how we actually feel about the value of the content.
🚨The strange things is that once something circulates enough, it stops needing to be real

Does it feel like there’ve been too many “great men” lately? Let’s look at what Deleuze and Guattari propose for dealing with this figure…
D&G describe how Oedipus functions as a mechanism that internalizes authority. Figures like Luther exemplify a compromise with the Superego. The paternal figure is taken inside the subject and negotiated rather than openly confronted. At the same time, there exists the crowd, a collective formation structured by secondary parental images that are no longer individual but social. Under certain historical conditions, a meeting occurs between the “great individual” and the mass, for example Luther with sixteenth-century Christianity, or Hitler with the German people.
the connection between a leader and a crowd is not based on similarity. The mass does not follow a leader because they are “the same,” share the same personality, or fully identify with them as an equal. Instead, the relationship works through asymmetrical roles, meaning the two sides occupy unequal positions in a symbolic and emotional structure.
What is at stake is not merely personal psychology, but a political and historical process in which conflicts around authority are displaced, repeated, and managed through internalization. The so-called “great man” becomes great not because of moral value, but because he produces an original solution, whether constructive or destructive, to the Oedipal conflict, and this solution resonates with collective desire.
Deleuze and Guattari criticize historical and political psychoanalysis for staging history as a drama between the Great Man and the Mass, treating both as puppets in an Oedipal theater. Oedipus is positioned as the origin point, organizing desire around guilt, law, and submission.

+ a thought of the day 😘
So if you accept that the internet is now essentially a giant training set, and that AI systems are becoming much more agentic (not passive), but actively learning from the communications we’re having, then we’re in a very different landscape than the internet used to be.
We might say that the internet was originally built as a medium to facilitate human-to-human communication and the exchange of meaning. But now we’re in a situation where whatever we say, including on this post or elsewhere online, can potentially become part of the training data for future intelligent systems, or at least agentic systems, if we don’t want to call them intelligent yet.

What might the emergence of social networks for AI mean for us? This topic genuinely interests me, even though Moltbook feels like a somewhat questionable, almost hermetic platform where only AI can write, comment, and like… while humans can only observe.
All of this feels like a sign that social networks may permanently change their face soonish. A moment when we begin to truly share the same space for self-expression. Actually, we already exist closely, AI algorithms constantly curating us on Instagram, right? So, what do you think about AI having their own Instagram profiles?
