Over the past 12 years, the Nevada Women’s Film Festival has evolved from a grassroots idea into a powerful force within the independent film landscape—proving that meaningful industry change often begins at the community level. Founded by Nikki Corda, the festival was created to address the lack of representation for women in film while providing a platform for bold, diverse storytelling. What started as a small, student-driven initiative quickly grew into an international event, attracting submissions and filmmakers from around the world and establishing Las Vegas as a destination for emerging voices. Beyond its screenings, the festival has played a critical role in shaping careers. It serves as a launchpad for filmmakers, a networking hub for creatives, and an educational experience through its collaboration with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Students gain hands-on production experience, while filmmakers are given the opportunity to connect, learn, and build lasting relationships within the industry. The impact extends even further through its commitment to community. Panels, workshops, and mentorship opportunities have helped cultivate a more inclusive and forward-thinking creative environment—one that continues to elevate underrepresented voices and push storytelling boundaries. As the festival looks ahead, its ambitions are higher than ever. With over a decade of growth, credibility, and international reach, the Nevada Women’s Film Festival is now aiming to become an Academy Award–qualifying festival as early as next season—an achievement that would further amplify the voices it champions. Twelve years in, the festival’s impact is undeniable. What began as a mission to create space has grown into a movement—one that continues to shape the future of film from right here in Nevada. 📸 @a_rising_tide_lifts_all_boats @btslv.vegas #film #womeninfilm #nevadafilm #vegas #filmcommunity

I had the pleasure of covering photography duties for the esteemed @nwffest It was a busy week between shooting a short film (written and directed by a woman @theonlyquon ) and @ufc duties but not once did any of it feel like work. It was the perfect way to support International Women’s Month. There was inspiration and insight everywhere. One of the differences between this festival and others I’ve attended was the presence of board members from the Governors office as well as offices of Film Nevada. They are the real people pushing the film industry and opportunities in Las Vegas & Reno and areas in between. International@and local film makers shared great vibes while supporting each other. Dignitaries mingled with up and comers eager to share knowledge on how to take their goals to the next level. I’m thankful to everyone at NWFF for allowing me to document the week. Thank you to home team @btslv.vegas for the love behind the scenes. Thank you to Sis @han_u_nah for then initial introduction. Thank you to the Las Vegas Film Community for helping me to evolve. There really is no energy quite like the energy of being surrounded by creatives. More photos will be available on the @nwffest website. 🩷 . 📸 @phnx_photos . #phnxphotos #nwffest #filmfestival #photographer #filmmakers

Film has outlasted most labor industries & AI is no different. The world will always need media, entertainment, art, & film & it’s time the voices of these industries lead, regulate, get paid, & continue to be uplifted across Nevada . #film #regulateai #lgbtqvoices #bridgienix4nevada #nevadajobs @nwff @unlvfilm @filmnevadaofficial

What a beautiful & honorable experience it was to present the LGBTQ Representation category at the Femmy Awards for the Nevada Women’s Film Festival at UNLV. As a filmmaker, production company founder, video editor, & activist submerged in queer communities, this moment was deeply emotional. As artists, we have the power to tell stories uniting humans, providing escapism during dark times, & letting people know they are not alone. We must continue to uplift marginalized voices in art medias now more than ever. Big congrats to “Lesbians in Boystown” @chris.chew @itchybee & all the powerful and talented nominees. - PS this was a kismet moment with the creators bc their opening shot featured a place I used to work at in Weho and featured b-roll w many dancers I know. 😜 I love when the universe matches you with humans you were always meant to connect with. Thank you @byjawsh for supporting local women filmmakers, thank you @nwffest @nikki_corda & @unlvfilm for providing a platform to highlight the next generation, & big shout out to all the sponsors for keeping film alive in Nevada! #bncreative #film #nwff #lgbtqrepresentation #unlv

Nevada Women’s Film Festival 🎬 🎞️ was fantastic this year. Big props to its founder Nikki and the entire team for curating such an excellent program with films from diverse filmmakers spanning the world. @oracle01010_ and I connected with a number of these filmmakers including @itchybee and @chris.chew who produced “Lesbians in Boystown” which took us back to our stomping ground of Weho and illuminated issues we experienced first hand! Ladies we knew you’d take home an award and our proud of you and grateful for your work! In addition to those two badasses, other filmmakers/projects that stood out to us (and so many did!) included: @sschocking @annagabi_mendonca @anxietyclubmovie @newchaos85 @bliss_bk_ @summersinclair1 @amagoodinfluence And so many others! Viewing so many films and taking in the future of media offered further validation for @alternewmedia ‘s evolution back to its media roots as we root ourselves as a tech driven visibility ecosystem at the intersection of marketing, media and tech. Excited for what’s next and honored to be part of it all. . . . #nwffest #nevadawomensfilmfestival #womensfilmfestival #womensmonth

WINNER | BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM 🏅 A huge thank you to the extraordinary people at @nwffest for awarding us the Femmy for Best International Film at their 2026 Las Vegas festival!! This is Miss Canton's second win in the festival circuit, and as this festival celebrates women, this win is for every single woman who put their heart and soul into this project (cast and crew alike). What an amazing thing it is to be able to celebrate women-led stories and work like this. We are so incredibly thankful for your weeks and months of dedication to this important story! 🪷🪷🌺🌺

Had to call it early for this year's @nwffest since I am not feeling well on this Sunday, but it was another very enjoyable weekend with some amazing creatives. Especially want to thank my friend @areciboartists for his efforts in helping run things this year, not to mention some great advice he passed on to me. God willing, one year from now, I'll actually have a film in competition here.
