Last night was so special. 2025 has been a year - a tough one in many ways and for so many on this planet. Take the time to share love during this Xmas period. As hard as it may be to find it, or someone to share it with. In times like this it’s so important to not sit in darkness, alone. Last night we gathered to once again to share connection and love. NU is a true community and seeing all of us come together each month like this is a blessing. 2025 marks 3 years of ego-free playing! YOU MADE THAT HAPPEN. A massive thanks to the NU team and Houseband (you know who you all are) and to @villagestaproom for keeping on hosting us and being the perfect space for our mission. This is not possible without each and one of you 🥹❤️ This morning we got sent these amazing illustrations made by @karlmillett who is a core member of the Village’s team and has seen the development of NU through the years. Seeing so many artforms merging into one is incredible and we are so enormously grateful for these stunning pieces of work from last night! IT’S TIME TO MASH UP YOUR MUSICAL INFLUENCES! Fellowship Music Collective (FMC) returns for a series of FREE workshops that will culminate with performances as part of Rooftop Sessions, our new laid back gig series that spotlights emerging artists (on our roof!). 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Young instrumentalists, vocalists, spoken word artists and rappers aged 14-19 will have the opportunity to join our songwriting taster workshop with @y.a.poet , and/or jam workshop with @nu.sessions . SONGWRITING TASTER WORKSHOP 13 May, 5pm-7pm FREE! Young musicians aged 14-19 will work with one of the finest spoken word artists, Y.A Poet to develop your lyricism, tone, performance and connection to words. JAM WORKSHOP 26/27 May, 10am-3pm FREE! Young intermediate-level musicians (who are confident with their instrument) aged 14-19, will be able to gain invaluable experience learning how to create free flowing music using themes, genres or feelings as a stimulus for their creations. The musicians will leave this project with an understanding of collaboration with their peers, the ability to closely listen to each other, and an openness to exploring new musical ideas. These workshops are a collaboration with NU Jam Sessions, a space to allow for ego free self-expression, whilst keeping community at the centre of its ethos.
