A couple of Thursdays ago, University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University showcased their ideas for a new structure to home the love locks that used to be placed on Wilford Suspension Bridge. Both universities were given just one day to develop and present their concepts, ready to be exhibited to the client, Severn Trent, and a panel of judges.
We were extremely impressed by the creativity and quality of the ideas produced in such a short timeframe.
The exhibition provided a fantastic opportunity for both universities to come together and share their work. It also attracted coverage from BBC East Midlands, helping to showcase these innovative design ideas to a wider audience.
We look forward to seeing the judging outcome 😊

In collaboration with Severn Trent Water and University of Nottingham, Architecture students in Nottingham are being asked for their expertise to design a new installation along the Embankment on the river Trent.
We are hosting the NTU Love Locks Design Ideas Day on Monday 20th April in the Architecture studio! Check your emails for the link to sign up or posters for QR code 👀 (NB: only NTU students may apply to this event)
A fun day where you will work in teams to produce design proposals for a new structure/intervention to house over 2000 Love Locks that were removed from Wilford Suspension bridge last year. Great for your CV and portfolio as an extra curricular activity! This will be a great way to kick start your Term 3 before the final push to the end of the academic year!

Year 3 have been to York and Sheffield for the past two days! A field trip looking at precedents for Design Studio, technical precedents and details; and to gain inspiration for their public buildings they are designing. Field trips are also all about community building for us on BArch at NTU, to boost morale and excite students for the final stages of their degree!
Let’s go final year… Let’s do this 🙌🏻
(And I case you’re wondering, pic 17 is in fact a slug disco.)
