We are 4,000 students, five departments and one school. We stand halfway between science and the arts; between tradition and disruption. We embrace theoretical rigour, and insist on hands-on experience for all our students. We celebrate design heritage, and we invite innovation. #WeAreADBE #BuiltEnvironment #Sustainability

We’re a nationally renowned stage for talent in making and design. We investigate the physicality of tools and tech, glass and grass, bricks and mortar; we explore the abstract excitement of ideas and creative philosophies. #WeAreADBE #BuiltEnvironment #Sustainability

"Being born and raised in Iran, I have always been deeply inspired by Persian architecture and the intricate patterns of Persian carpets. However, for this project, I didn't just want to copy the aesthetics; I wanted to extract the underlying logic of these designs and see how they could offer lessons for contemporary architecture." Find out more about MArch Architecture student Ghazal Mohammadi and her project "AVA" - just one of the many projects that will be featured in our upcoming @nottinghamtrentuni ADBE Student Showcase, celebrating the work of our architecture and product design students. The architecture of Ethan Couldridge's 'Anti-Frequency' imagines a dystopian Britain in the year 2086, diseased by an Orwellian government under extreme dictatorial control. In a digital, post-work society where futility is imposed on everyone from birth. Against this backdrop, emerges a band of rebels - The Refusers - whose goal is to take back of control of happiness, recreation, and reintroduce the arts of sound and music back into the country. As such, Ethan's design draws on opera houses and concert halls, as well as his own love of music and the mid-20th century "golden age" of architecture and interior design. If this post has inspired you, you might want to come and see our upcoming @nottinghamtrentuni - an exhibition of the exciting and incredibly wide-ranging work of our graduating Architecture and Product Design students 👇 Student Showcase Celebration Event: 📆 Friday 29 May 2026 🕓 4 pm - 9 pm 📌 Newton Building, City Campus Student Showcase Public Viewing: 📆 Saturday 30 May - Friday 5 June 🕛 Daily opening times vary - check webpage for info 📌 Newton Building, City Campus Visit our website for more info and to book. It's nearly time for the Nottingham Trent University ADBE Student Showcase, celebrating the work of our final year students in Product Design and Architecture. From 29 May until 5 June we will be showcasing innovative projects like LINEA by Freya Wilcox. LINEA is a product designed to organise and manage medical lines, catheters, and monitoring leads in hospital settings. For Freya, the inspiration for LINEA was deeply personal. She told us: "In January 2024, my dad suffered a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest and was placed on life support. Visiting the intensive care unit was an incredibly daunting and overwhelming experience. With the constant rotation of nurses and medical staff, I noticed a significant gap in how information was transferred between the medical team, the patient and the family." Witnessing first-hand the tiring task of untangling the sheer volume of lines attached to patients and how it contributed to the stressful environment, Freya was driven to try and design a tangible and practical solution. Read more about LINEA on our website. And don't forget to book your place at the Showcase to see more work from our talented students. #weareadbe

This week students from our @nottinghamtrentuni Architecture courses have been working in teams to come up with designs for a new structure to house over 2000 so-called "Love Locks" which were removed from Wilford Suspension Bridge in Nottingham last year to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge. Though the removal was necessary, the reaction of the general public was such that Severn Trent has invited architecture students at both @uniofnottingham and @nottinghamtrentuni to design concepts for a new public installation at Victoria Embankment to enable people to engage with the locks and enable the tradition to continue. Following a similar event held at University of Nottingham earlier this year, NTU had its design charrette on Monday this week, followed by an exhibition of the entries from both universities held today (23 April) for the benefit of the judging panel. It is intended that the judges will shortlist three designs from the sixteen submissions, with one eventually being built. The exhibition can currently be viewed in NTU's Newton Building on Goldsmith Street (situated by the Coffee Pod). #weareadbe

Thanks to all the students, staff and industry guests who took part in the @nottinghamtrentuni School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment interdisplinary Design Charrette this week. Over the course of Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 March our participating students worked in groups on a real-world live project with a brief from the Mosaic Vineyard to design a commercial development in Accra, Ghana. They were tasked with presenting proposals that were financially sustainable, realistic to build, and environmentally responsible, and that could be used flexibly to support the local community and deliver economic growth. The second day culminated with project presentations, judging by the industry panel, and prize-giving. #weareadbe #architecture #productdesign #construction #civilengineering
