13 years old this month. We chose each other in October 2012, finding love in a hopeless place - a frat house on homecoming. He fell asleep in my lap and the rest is history. He traveled the country with us, coast to coast & down south multiple times. I planned life around him. College graduation. Road tripping home to Colorado after college with Will. My first job. Getting into graduate school. A few in town moves, a number of roommates. A wonderful year in California where he learned to love (despite being quite confused by) water, waves, and the ocean. Graduating and starting my practice. Getting him his very own backyard. Back to the east coast a few times to spend time with new extended family. By our side at our wedding & as we read our vows. Back to California last Thanksgiving for one final run on the sand. He’s been my favorite buddy for my entire adult life. I don’t know what it is to be, live, and love without him. Even things I did without him feel different, knowing he is gone. I now realize a part of me actually thought he would live forever. As devastating as this has been, the love he gave us far outweighs it. We were lucky. He was an incredible dog - silly, loyal, stubborn, loving. He loved to sunbathe, and passed peacefully at our home in a beam of sun from our skylight. There will only be one Cooper, and he was ours, and we were his. Thank you, Cooper, for everything. Thank you also to friends and family who helped me care for him over the years. He loved you, too. 🐾 ❤️ 🌈
