9 in 10 mothers didn’t have to die.
Read that again.
Giving birth in the US is deadlier than in all our peer countries. If you’re a Black mother, your risk triples. If you’re an Indigenous (American Indian and Alaska Native) mother, it more than doubles.
Every year 50,000+ women walk out of delivering their baby(ies) with trauma that doesn’t end at discharge.
But we have a proven solution: midwifery care. We just don’t fund it…yet
Congress can fund care for mothers right now through the Midwives for MOMS Act.

Babies need their mothers. Let’s make sure more moms get to come home.
Because a safe birth should not be a privilege, it should be a right.
And none of us would be here without the mother who birthed us.
So whether you are a mother, love a mother or have ever needed a mother. This is your fight too.
Thank you @npwf for all your work and efforts to help families in honoured to raise awareness for all you do.
Thank you to my incredible birth team @anyadjumabaev@emmyrobbindoula for not only a safe birth but the beautiful empowering birth of my dreams.

Since the Department of Labor is not recognizing Women in Apprenticeship Day this year, we will do what women in the trades always do: roll up our sleeves and get it done ourselves 🛠️
Women are already welding, wiring, building, and leading. Every day, they are proving that apprenticeships are a pathway to high wage, stable careers.
Apprenticeships don’t just train workers. They change lives.
We need strong protections that support women’s access to these jobs and help close the #WageGap.

Mother's Day is a health justice holiday!
After losing her own young children, Ann Reeves Jarvis organized “clubs” for mothers in West Virginia to learn how to combat disease and unsanitary living conditions to reduce the infant mortality rate and improve maternal health. Mother’s Day is much more than a Hallmark holiday – it’s a call to action to keep fighting for better maternal and infant health.
If you donate to the National Partnership today, you can honor the efforts of the women and mothers who came before and advance health justice and equity for today’s moms. And if you give $50 or more, you'll receive a “Phenomenal Mother” T-shirt for yourself, or any phenomenal mother you know! Link in our bio.
When we’re fighting for paid family and medical leave, we’re fighting for access or all types of families. Inclusive family definitions in paid leave policies are crucial. More information at the link in our bio🔗

“We’re not confused about the problem. We’re choosing not to fix it.”
In this clip, Jocelyn Frye of @npwf breaks down a hard truth:
The vast majority of maternal deaths are preventable. We know what works. But instead of investing in real solutions, lawmakers are failing to act.
And the consequences are real:
1 in 3 Black mothers report mistreatment when receiving care.
This isn’t random. It’s not inevitable.
It’s a policy choice.
We can do better — and we have to.
