Presenting “Becoming Louisiana: Borders in Motion (1683–1814),” curated and designed by Rudy Bazenet-Tilton with the support of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Yesterday, we hosted a private preview party for some of our closest partners, and had a fantastic time. Bringing into dialogue a series of historical maps and contemporary graphic design, the project explores how borders shift, evolve, and tell stories across time. It is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come visit us!

We’re thrilled to support Mélange Dance Theatre through our Le Lab program—and even more excited to share that, thanks to this collaboration, they’ll present their amazing show, Love Letters of World War II, at the Library of Congress this September. Le Gala! It rained all afternoon in New Orleans—and then the magic happened. At 5:55 pm, just in time for our 6:00 pm gala, the rain stopped and the skies cleared. Just the kind of magic we needed—New Orleans style. What followed was a truly magical evening: a packed house, wonderful conversations, and an unforgettable performance by Mélange Dance Theatre. Le Gala! Il a plu tout l’après-midi sur La Nouvelle-Orléans — et puis la magie a opéré. À 17h55, cinq minutes avant le début de notre gala prévu à 18h00, la pluie s’en est allée et le ciel s’est éclairci. Exactement le genre de magie dont seule La Nouvelle-Orléans a le secret. Et la soirée qui a suivi a été tout aussi magique : une salle comble, des conversations exceptionnelles et une performance inoubliable signée Mélange Dance Theatre. Katya in Paris. Our wonderful team member Katya Vaz (currently on leave as a Fulbright scholar this season) will present her new exhibition “La Goutte qui déborde du vase” at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris from April 29 to May 15. Katya’s work explores rivers as spaces of identity and transformation, bringing the Seine and the Mississippi into dialogue through a contemporary lens. The exhibition will open on April 29 with an evening of live music blending classical, jazz, and experimental sounds, including a performance by our former Fulbright artist-in-residence Fabien Enger. So proud to see these beautiful collaborations unfolding between Paris and New Orleans—and between Nous and Fulbright. Avec amour, toujours.

La brillante Katya Vaz, que nous sommes fiers de compter dans notre équipe (et qui participe cette année à un programme Fulbright à Paris) présentera sa nouvelle exposition “La Goutte qui déborde du vase” à la Fondation des Etats-Unis à Paris du 29 avril au 15 mai. Le travail de Katya met à l’honneur les rivières comme espaces d’identité et de transformation, mettant notamment en dialogue la Seine et le Mississippi. L’exposition ouvrira ses portes le 29 avril avec des performances musicales, proposées entre autres par notre ancien lauréat Fulbright, Fabien Enger ! Tellement fiers de voir toutes ces collaborations se développer entre Paris et La Nouvelle-Orléans — et entre Nous et Fulbright. Avec amour, toujours.
Musique(s) is in the air! A packed house for a wonderful week of music in the French Quarter. We were proud to support this two-day celebration of the 50th anniversary of the American Folklife Center at the U.S. Library of Congress, hosted last week at the National Park Service’s New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. Several artists from our Musique(s) album took the stage—bringing Louisiana’s living traditions to life (bonjour @louismichotmusic and @brucesunpiebarnes ). All programming from the celebration was recorded by American Routes radio show and will be featured on the show’s July 4th episode.

Just off the corner of Chartres and Toulouse streets, the New Orleans Foundation for Francophone Cultures @nousfoundation has opened the first cultural center in New Orleans dedicated specifically to celebrating Cajun and Creole heritage cultures.
Nous is home to only the third French bookstore in the nation, along with a publishing house, a record label that has already produced an album that was up for a GRAMMY, and an independent film studio whose short films have resulted in a trip to the Cannes Film Festival.
