Letās be honest: healthcare can feel rushed, reactive, and one-size-fits-all.
And while the ābasicā approach may work for some people (which is great!)⦠for others - especially ACLers, post-op patients, and those dealing with lingering knee pain - it can leave them feeling stuck, frustrated, and unheard.
Those people deserve options too.
From day one, Iāve built NYBPT around a simple belief: rehab should feel intentional, collaborative, and individualized.
You deserve more than rushed sessions and generic programs.
You deserve care that listens, adapts, tests, reassesses, and evolves with you.
A plan built around your goals.
Your lifestyle.
Your sport.
Your body.
Welcome to not your basic knee rehab š¤
The biggest mistake I made early in rehab was not loading knee extension properly.
I struggled to regain full extension until I actually started loading it progressively and with intent
Even after high intensity days (heavy loading, plyometrics) itās normal to wake up with a bit of limited extension.
This is one of my go to drills to restore that range š¤š¦æ

After 7 months in the shelter⦠and 3 weeks in foster⦠Zeus is finally going home. š¾š”
And while his story has a beautiful ending ā I want to be clear about something:
This isnāt always how it goes.
Fostering isnāt always easy.
Itās not always convenient.
And most dogs donāt find their person in 3 weeks.
But what fostering does do ā every single time ā is give a dog a chance to be seen for who they really are.
Because Zeus was never a āproject.ā
He wasnāt overlooked because he wasnāt good enough.
He was overlooked because no one knew him.
In just a few weeks outside of the shelter, he showed us everything:
⨠Dog-friendly
⨠Great with people
⨠House trained, crate trained
⨠Smart, affectionate, and eager to learn
Not because we āfixedā him ā
but because he finally had the space, structure, and support to be understood and see .
And thatās the part people donāt always see:
Fostering isnāt just about getting a dog out ā
itās about helping them thrive.
We took him everywhere we could.
Shared him constantly.
Leaned on our community.
Tagged locations, posted updates, told his story.
Because people canāt adopt a dog they donāt know exists.
And it worked.
Not just because of us ā but because of the community that showed up for him.
There are so many dogs just like Zeus.
Waiting. Ready. Worth it.
If youāve ever thought about fostering ā this is your sign. And if you canāt foster, sharing these dogs matters more than you think.
Hereās to Zeus⦠and all the other well deserving pups just like him š¤

February 2026 Recap
1. Started taking tennis lessons with @emilyeschnitman and itās been super fun to return to a recreational sport that I played briefly as a kid for only a few years. Also super proud of Em and her progress with her knee rehab to get to this point, huge kudos to her and @notyourbasicpt ! šš¾
2. Triathlete with patellar tendinopathy improving quad strength by almost 30lb of force since his initial evaluation 4.5 weeks ago. Now back to a pain-free return to run protocol!šāāļøšØ
3. @greatwhite is now walking distance to us andā¦itās dangerous š¦
4. Love when patients are able to get back to moving and lifting heavier weights without pain. Thereās a sense of accomplishment and emotional safety from the patient thatās super special to witness as a provider ššļø
5. Seated Batwing Keiser Row - using this as an option for a patient with a rotator cuff tear and I love how it utilizes time under tension to stress the muscles of the shoulder and back. I originally was introduced to the batwing row from one of @benbrunotraining training programs (which I also highly recommend) and have used it a ton with patients with upper extremity injuries š¦šŖ
6. Return to vertical intensive jumps for a patient rehabbing a meniscus tear. If your goal is to live an active life without pain then ya gotta leave the ground fam! š¦
7. Had an awesome time celebrating my niece and nephewsā birthday at the @santabarbarazoo , all the animals and staff probably thought our family shouldāve been in the exhibit insteadš»š«ššš¦š¦
8. Love some good vibes and Margs at @casita_shermanoaks š¤
9. Patient with disc pathology and a hip labrum tear finding tolerable entry points to loading. Love using a 90/90 wall iso to help facilitate posterior tilting of the pelvis, hip IR, ribcage depression, and hamstring contraction. š
10. Pops is still out here grindinā and getting stronger every week š¤
11. Vinny decided that protecting all of his toys is just as fun as playing with them šš
